    Had never heard of it but just watched 2 minutes of the 1st episode. Set quality and costumes are very impressive...spot on. Filming and camera angles, directing, all primo. Use of original music works as it should. Kirk and Spock, though....ruins it. Kirk's build, haircut, and mannerisms fit, but his voice is a couple of octaves too high. So is Spock's, and that guy doesn't even resemble Spock in the least. Scotty, on the other hand, is awesome. Look, tone, and accent...nailed it. A shame about Kirk and Spock, though. Thanks for sharing!

    That's funny cause I did the same thing (watched maybe 5 minutes) and had the exact same reactions when I first watched it. Watching through the first episode and a half, I got more used to Kirk and Spock. Then I didn't watch any more for a while. Happened to catch about 8 episodes of TOS on BBC America a couple months later, and then the appreciation of all the "little things" they do right really sank in. Have been meaning watch TOS start-to-finish on Netflix then go watch STC, but have just been too busy for a while now.

    BTW - Scotty is awesome because that's Chris Doohan - James Doohan's (original Scotty) son. Crazy, right?

    I used to watch MacGyver when I was younger, but after watching Stargate, I like him in that role more.

    My buddy at work is a Star Trek fan, tried to get me into Battlestar Galactica. Maybe i need to watch more of it, but I couldn't get into it.

    My wife re-watches a few shows all the time e.g., The Nanny, Reba, a few unmentionables but when she re-watches Star Trek that's when I put the divorce papers away.

    I've finished the first part of Discovery. I am really into it. The only thing I don't like is this spore drive nonsense. But it did make the last EP pretty bad ass.
