I would be very interested in this truck. Hyundai makes some nice vehicles with loads of tech.

    Bring on the cooled seats.

I like the competition coming in the mid size segment. Hopefully it will make Toyota step up. Cant expect to keep building corky trucks with no tech and stay at the top

The Hyundai is more Ridgeline than Tacoma, wouldn't you agree?

Haven't heard a lot about the new Ranger, but think it will add heat to the mid-size truck market, which is a good thing for the consumer.

Will probably be in the market for a new truck in 20+ years, so will be watching this all with interest.

Here is a rendering of what a production version could look like.

Too many but also not enough mods
Not at all. They are going for urban buyer who want a smaller truck that can still carry a bunch of stuff. Ridgeline might lose some sales. Toyota should be more worried about upcoming Ranger, redesigned Frontier and Wrangler Pickup. Apparently Wrangler Pickup will be called the Scrambler, will have a diesel and is a convertible.

Basically Santa Cruz with a bed, as much as the Ridgeline is a Pilot with a bed.

Without a ladder frame, the pickup version tends to become heavier than the SUV, because the bedsides lack the support of D pillars and a full-length roof.

i believe this would be considered a compact truck. would have the respective market cornered though.

My exact thought too, its a Unibody Pseudo Truck, so its a direct competitor to the Ridgeline.

Didn't the automotive market try these things years ago and fail. The only one that has somewhat made it is the ridgeline, and everybody I know that owns one thinks it's an actual pickup truck, and they have no clue about basic life survival.

It's all done for, toyota might as well shut down the plants and begin retooling, this thing's a game changer!

You mean the Subaru Baja? :p

But no, this is taller. The Baja was based on the Legacy/Outback wagon. The Santa Cruz would be equivalent to a Forester with a bed.
