2015 Toyota Tacoma On Board Air w/Airbags and Accessories

Hi,

I am running into a couple problems with this install.
First off I installed the Ride Rite Firestone airbags but I currently do not have any air in them because I don't have the compressor/tank installed.

#1 issue is the Air tank installation location.
I have seen other members installing above the differential but I do not want to do this because I am hauling a boat around and if the differential hits the tank, there will probably be a hole in my bed. Also for resale purposes I don't want to put holes in my bed.

I did find a location (underneath the driver by all the plumbing. Also another member installed the tank close to the exhaust. These seem like my only viable options because I want to keep the spare and I don't want to drill though my bed. Does anyone know who has made a bracket for this location at all? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The second question I have (probably stupid) but when I finish installing the air compressor and tank and hook it up to the air bags as well as use accessory air to pump tires etc, how does the compressor know to put more air in the air bags it it will be depleted by other operations?
I guess I need some sort of shut of valve or check valve..?

Does anyone have a proper diagram for an accessory & air bag setup ?
Also I have the VIAIR 4 port air manifold that I want to incorporate in this system.

You should be able inflate the bags using a bicycle pump. I have the Air Rite bags and have lines from each bag to Schrader valves mounted in the back bumper. I recently installed an automatic pump system that keeps the bags inflated to a specified value.

 

Unless you have some sort of auto control for the airbags you would need to inflate them manually. Simply hooking them to your air tank will set them at whatever air pressure is in the tank and will vary, so not a good thing to do. You will most likely find that you don't vary the air much so manual fill is pretty simple and trouble free. Simply plumb the double or single fill and adjust the air by hand when needed. Also, the sir bags like to have at least 5psi in them. It is not a good idea to drive with them empty as per Firestone.

 

I too am running the Firestone Ride Rite airbags on my truck. I have the firestone compressor installed in the little storage compartment of my bed on the drivers side. It is a manual system and is very easy to add or remove air from the airbags. It came on the truck when i bought a few months back.
