2.7 = has been in all generations and has been proven.

3.5 = a couple years old and introduced in a generation that has had many more problems than previous generations.

Unless you get a lemon or fail to maintain them, either will probably outlast the rest of the truck or at least your love for it. Pick according to your needs and wallet and be confident with your choice.

I think the 3.5 will outlive the 2.7. Its a bigger motor with the same weight vehicle, meaning less stress on the 3.5l motor. Unless the driver pounds the pedal everyday that 3.5 is working a lot less and the 2.7.
Also the 2GR is a proven motor, we just have a new variant of it.

Funny how everyone says the 6 is underpowered then in the same breath say get the 4 banger.
6 will work less than 4 therefore longer lifetime.

That's not going to be a thing brother. There's too many things buggering up the 3.5 as is.

The 6 is underpowered for a 6 because it's crippled.

Those extra 2 pistons that are smaller by a mm and have a shorter stroke doesn't mean a thing for longevity. My 4 banger doesn't see the stress you think it has because I have a nice gear ratio from the factory. Also...my engine was built in Japan.

If you say so, it's just my opinion and my 3.5l hasn't had issues yet, nor has the ECU been updated.

That is an amazingly intuitive argument. However you would be surprised how in engineering many remarkably intuitive things turn out to be wrong when empirical reality sets in. Time will tell...
