Folks kept asking, so i named my new kidney JACK in honor of my donor, Jackie...

Before surgery I kept asking the docs to film the operation so I could upload it, but they said no go... When i came out, he told me that he hooked me up with a photo of it before shoving it into me... wooooohooooo

11 days in, how's your recovery going?

 

better... im peeing every 2 to 3 hours... i can poo now... this morning i was able to walk a quarter mile in 10 minutes... the incision is still sore and my belly is bruised up and can't bend down, but it's manageable... my spirits are up and my pescatarian diet is working well... i am losing weight slowly... so far down 8 pounds since surgery day... going a little batshit being in seclusion at home... docs said i can't get out until September 17, but even then i have to limit exposure to mass crowds and wear my mask...

 

Sounds pretty darn good! Glad to hear it's working. Don't worry about getting out, you have all of us!Hang in there, praying for a speedy recovery.

 

Gotta admit, after reading page 1 of this thread than skipping straight to page 11, I was prayin' for good news.!

Quick update. Last week my labs initially looked good, but after getting home, UCLA called me and said one of my lab tests came back with some issues. Essentially one of the primary anti rejection meds is not working, so I have to go in this coming Tuesday for more testing. Will see what happens in a couple days.

I feel fine though so it should be back to normal.

The docs have cleared me for driving and to try getting on a bike. I have yet to hit the road with it as my body aches won't stop, but a family friend was gracious to gift me his old racing/training bike as I need something ultra light to lift into my truck.
