IMG_1979.jpg IMG_1980.jpg So I just bought a 7' in bed camper for my Tacoma that weighs 1100 pounds. I've drove it 4 hours already on the stock suspension, driving it home from where I bought it. It actually handled pretty good when the wind wasn't blowing 45mph. I need to stiffen up the rear and I was trying to decide between the fire stone air bag system or the Super Springs system. They are about the same price so I was just wondering if anyone had any experience on these. I've had air bags on my rigs before but never Super Springs. (They aren't add a leafs, they are a adjustable preload helper spring for your leafs). Any info would be great.

I just bought a Six Pac Model 88 camper a few months ago which is around 7' 7" and weighs around 1200 lbs. I'm running with the stock suspension, but am going to upgrade to Deaver springs since I find the stock leaf springs quite soft and the Firestone Air Bags to level the camper out. I'm also going to remove the plastic bedliner and have a spray in bed liner & buy a Dee Zee truck bed mad to keep the camper from shifting around. I've already installed a set of Torklift tiedowns on my truck.

If you want to use the stock leaf springs or suspension, the Firestone Air Bags with the Daystar air bag cradles http://daystarweb.com/productdetail.php?productID=1245 would fit your truck quite nicely and help level the truck out. Looking at your truck, I noticed you have some sag and the front is pointing upwards a little bit. What size are your wheels and tires do you have on the truck? Can it hold the weight of the camper?

I've got FJ coils in the front of my truck so it levels the truck out when it's unloaded. The tires are crap, i plan on buying some E rated BFG ATs before this winter so they should hold up to the weight just fine. How do the daystar cradles add more travel? I went to the site and watched the video. Air bags or helper springs are a must it seems like. Do your Torklifts go to the frame or D Rings? Thanks for the info

I would highly recommend the E load range BF Goodrich AT tires. If you're running 15" wheels, it's near impossible to find a set of load range E tires. I had to buy a set of OEM 4Runner Chou Seiki 16" wheels from a local seller for $80.00 so I can run the load range E tires needed to sustain the camper's weight.

I don't have the Firestone Air Bags or the Daystar cradles yet. The Torklifts tiedowns are expensive, but good investment. They mount to the frame of the truck. I'm a member on this forum and found this thread very helpful since it pertains to the Tacomas:

Ok thanks I'll check out the link. I've got 16" wheels now and when I put new tires on I will be putting the limited 4runner 5 spoke wheels. Anyone have real experience with the daystar cradles?

I can only say my Super Springs do just what is stated .

Empty ride just like any empty Tacoma Load it up it handles the weight and handles just fine.

I had as much as a Ton of Wood Bricks not something I would tell anyone to try .Other then the front being a little light I did not break anything

Any questions feel free to PM me
