I remember back in middle school I think , we watched an eclipse thru sheets of paper with holes punched thru it. Lot safer than looking at the sun.

Welcome to another Monday, if your reading this your on the right side of the dirt.

Rain and thunderstorms today next few hours looks like they will miss me then full broadside rest of the day. Eclipse? We don't need no stinking eclipse. Don't need any more rain either. Hopefully my work on blocking the culvert that now dumps into the yard will hold. If not first chance that it looks like it will go 2 or more days without rain it is cement time. Have a great day and keep the kids off the lawn.

Good morning all! I'm still trying to figure out all the big todo about the eclipse and why everybody is going nuts over it. I mean it's pretty cool I guess but just walk outside look up and then return to life. Apparently nobody in my family believes I watched one of these about 15 years ago at work there had been no forwarning on tv that I remember we just noticed it was getting dark outside and went out and watched with welding helmets

 

Man, not Monday already.....

 

I guess it's better than tearing down statues for a perceived pissing on ones shoes.

 

Just downloaded an app sitting in the waiting room, it's called skyview. I don't know if I'm freakin people out yet but it will follow the compass in the phone and show the constellations, planets, satellites and what ever you would see in the sky.



It is also time sensitive so it will show you where the moon is relative to the sun prior to the eclipse.

 

My wife and daughters are all excited about wanting to go to the new museum in DC, which I agree with that aspect of our history being displayed but it should just be in the museum of national history, I'm boycotting until they build a redneck white boy museum

That's very interesting but doesn't explain why at least the larger confederate cemetaries are still privately funded

 

Kinda goes hand in hand with the old saying about the winners get to write the history. One of the guides we were listening to at Gettysburg talked about the cleanup after the battle. Because it took place in a predominantly Union local the bodies of the dead were basically treated with respect however the Confederate soldiers were treated with a bit less. Quite a number of mass graves and unmarked as well.
