Ran the Rubicon this past weekend. Just out of to Buck Island Lake since it was an overnight trip. I walked the majority of the trail. Gatekeeper to Buck Island and back to the bottom of Walker Hill so about 13 miles in total.

Trail conditions right now are rough. Pirate4x4 has a great thread on the current conditions of the trail for anyone curious or is looking to maybe run the trail before the snow starts to fall.

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/rubi...ns-2017-go-first-post-current-conditions.html

I'm also attaching my Flickr album from the trip. Hopefully it'll give some idea of the trail right now until Buck Island.

I wouldn't count myself as an actually photographer. I know how to use a camera well, but not well enough in my eyes.

I see no reason it couldn't. I would just do a trip over 3 days. Just go slow and go with someone who knows the trail.

You're not wrong. It doesn't matter how built you are. What you know about wheeling is everything in how you drive and what lines you take. Case in point, one of the guys who went with us is a professional driver who took a near bone stock Land Rover Defender 90 on 32s and he walked up everything with no issues.

It's one thing to drive the Rubicon and another to wheel it! :burnrubber:

Rubicon has been a bucket list thing since I had my Scout 80 in high school. I want to run it this year- maybe late in the season after getting used to this setup. Plus I need more cool pics for the gram.

I want to do it with you!

...but my wife convinced me to coach soccer so now all my weekends are bunk until the end of October

I'm having trouble trying to plan a simple overnight slick rock/deer valley trip in before the snow ruins everything.
