I have an opportunity to transfer down there and wanted to get an idea of what the area is like. Looks pretty desolate and barren from what I've seen on the internet so far but is fairly close to alot of neat stuff.

I'm not in Pueblo, I'm north in Colorado Springs, but here's some info for you. I'm assuming you're transferring from Kentucky. The southern front range in Colorado is largely semi arid. It starts getting dryer just north of Colorado Springs and then keeps increasing down into Pueblo and beyond. Pueblo's altitude (under 5k feet) combined with it's more southerly location makes it much warmer than other places on the front range. Highs in the mid-upper 90's are common during the summer and they don't get that much, if any snow, in the winter.

Pretty much sums it up. Nice area if you like those two things though.

Thanks for the info. It definitely looked more "dry" than what I had as a mental picture of Colorado. Looking on Zillow... It looks like a ghost town. There was a home and 100 acres east of Pueblo for 100k. I'm gonna talk with some guys that have worked down there before I explore the option any further. I'm happy where I am but figured it might be a good experience.

Colorado Springs is about a 45 minute drive north of Pueblo, so that may be an option. Don't expect to find a 100 acre ranch for $100k though. :D

If you're still wondering about it, I live in Pueblo and it's kind of... not the best. Downtown is ok-ish, North end of Pueblo is alright, but there is a lot of crime and poverty and all the negativity that comes with it on the east and south sides. I live near downtown, and I guess I got used to it. I wouldn't mind moving out, though.
Pueblo west is not too bad. It's just kind of barren prairie, the houses are usually more spread about with one acre lots. Further east of Pueblo is the 'county' and it's a little greener, lots of little farms out that way.

Thanks for the info! I've decided to pass on the transfer and stay where I am.
