    Hey folks, did some searching, not much regarding the two head to head, and looking for personal experiences.

    I've been using Back Country Navigator Pro for some time now, along with CalTopo. So far, this has proven to be quite effective, and I haven't really found any drawbacks aside from limited memory in my phone for large maps (non expandable memory on Note5).

    I've read Gaia's info page on why they believe they're now a better piece of software than BCN, and they make some valid points. But I would like your own opinions as well.

    Some info to keep in mind;
    I typically build my own trail/waypoint gpx files using CalTopo on the pc. It's faster for me when entering notes and such regarding intersections or similar, then apply to my map in BCN.

    I primarily use this on my note5, the display is acceptable in my opinion at this size. When I get a joy mount, I will probably switch over to one of our tablets.

    Any information it appreciated.

    I know it's been a while but I was just wondering what you ended up doing? I'm currently looking at both of these apps as well as Avenza and I would rather only spend money on one thing if I could get away with it. I'm primarily interested in National Forests and Parks to camp and fish in and maybe the occasional mild off road trail.

    Been happy with Gaia, used Backcountry a few years ago but now prefer Gaia after a few trips with it

    Alright cool. I just noticed I can try the free trial on iPad so maybe i'll give that a shot (android only has the paid version of Gaia). What about it do you like more @RelentlessFab?
