parts came in. i installed on vent mount..still adjustable, solid.
the usb power port was reeeeeal tight..took awhile, but came out nice.
no gps unclip ,, fuss, muss, etc.. just magnetic..great..
no sag atall, the vent mount lips over dash console..
no windshield marks, no suction failures.
    no dangling cords

edit:: im way happier than pix would show..i spose most ppl wont care acuz they have lives...sorry

thats a half empty outlook..i see it as an upgrade
    same vent control,
    the mounts are like 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 away from vents..
plus i dont use gps all the time..

i still have bottom console user made magnetic gps mount, same stealth..
this is just another option when wanted.

That's cool if you live in the hood and don't want someone to break into your car to steal your stereo...just take it inside with you.

Otherwise, why not just get a nice headunit with built in navigation?

When you get home, you can take your GPS inside with you if you're worried about it being stolen.
You can't do that with a headunit.

IF i ever wanna hide gps, i can just put whole thing in console or whatever..
my head unit is just fine ,, auxin , bluetooth

wtf should i spend 800 for something i wont like..

Nobodys suggesting you do. Re read what MM said, he is complimenting your GPS mounting.

I guess I just live in a bad area, I've had things stolen from me from time to time. So that's the first thing that popped into my head.

Why not just mount your phone on a suction cup above the dash? What does your gps do that a phone doesnt?

I actually agree with OP on this.
On my own personal rating list of best to worst (for convenience), I'd put headunit with built-in nav first, GPS receiver like OP second, then Phone last. Google maps and connection to the internet is great for finding things, but for a road trip, not so much. Screen is too small, sometimes it'll lose service and go wonky, sometimes a call comes in, or a text or notification comes in and blocks your view of the map. Plus it's gotta stay plugged in or you'll drain the battery fast.
I've actually gotten a call while navigation was on - and the automated voice kept interrupting my call and speaking over both of us.

yes..I would be happy with head unit, back camera, subscription radio etc..
all brands graphics are ridiculous...I hated all of them..I like clear clean simple...maybe there's one or two, over 1k..No.
your deconstruction and analytics were right, imo..
and that call interruption thing is maddening
