This is my daily driver, and I never go off-road. I do, however, want to lift it 2-3" for a more aggressive stance and a slightly smoother ride, as the Hitachi shocks are a bit stiff.

I don't want to use blocks, spacers or anything cheap on my new truck, but after looking at the Toytec Boss I believe that is probably overkill for what I need?

I just want to improve the suspension a bit, sit a little higher and call it a day. With that said can someone advise if simply putting 5100 all around and an AAL in the rear will be an improvement?

I plan on taking some measurements today to see where I'm currently sitting, and then planned on contacting Maria at Headstrong to get some options.

Any help would be appreciated! Look at my truck what would you put on it??

    Talk with Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road
She is extremely knowledgeable and will help you out!

If you go with 5100s I recommend OME coils to provide the front lift. Don't compress your stock spring to achieve it, it will ride rough as hell, I've done it before I swapped to 885x coils. As for the rear, AAL or a whole new leaf pack.

I'm a prerunner and lifted and it's my daily:) No longer have to worry about the Texas flooding each year lol.

    Btw, good lookin truck

Is it overkill, yes of course it is. Stock is as durable and reliable as you truck is going to be. That said, that is not was vehicle modification is about. If you like the look and are willing to do it right, go for it. Enjoy your truck.

If your wheels are 16", 255x85. If they are 17", 255x80.

That will create real lift (ground clearance) and fill out the wheel wells. You'll have no rubbing issues if you use your OE wheels.

If you insist on proceeding, call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and ask for the @ChadsPride Prerunner special.

Never, you will love a 3.5 LT kit from Total Chaos and some Kings to support them!:D

I second talking with Marie @ Headstrong. She has been very helpful. I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Daily driver Prerunner that probably will never go off road. I'm leaning towards ordering the complete OME kit with Dakar leafs. People seem to love the ride quality in town and it helps with carrying a load or towing.

I wish, ideally I would get a +2 LT with Kings or ADS but I haven't won the lottery yet. Also if I go that route, I will want to upgrade the rear axle to something wider to match the wider front track. Maybe a Dana 60 with a Detroit locker :welder:

I have 17" wheels and am interested in 255x80 for my next set - that or 265x70.

I know that will be some good ground clearance, but I'm afraid it'll look like pizza cutters. What does everyone think about this size on the Tacoma if you never go offroad? Is this a good tire size for daily highway, city driving?

I must admit, it sounds intriguing to me running this size because everyone out here in San Diego just wants the same look and I would like to be a bit different from the pack

Really when it comes down to tires for me, looks is the most important. Hell I'm in San Diego. It never rains, is always nice and I drive to work and the beach lol.

Would 265x70 or 255x80 look better once I decide on the lift?

265/70 might look better from the front or rear but 255/80 would fill the wheel well better. It is only 10mm difference in width, roughly 3/8". I would do the 255/80 but you will have less tires to choose from.

You get more rain than we do in Phoenix, but around here it seems like everybody runs mud tires. Not real practical for a daily driver but they look good. I chose the Nitto Ridge Grappler because it has aggressive looks but still has good manners on the road.

Thank you so much @txtaco87, @Clearwater Bill and @65skyturbo for your recommendations!!!!

@SanDog11 there are many ways to lift your truck to get a more aggressive stance. Most of it will come down to what you use your truck for, budget, and preference.
Since you have a 2wd you could also get a 4" lift from the Maxtrac spindles. That is an excellent way to lift the truck while maintaining the factory ride quality and geometry. Since it maintains the geometry there will be no need to run aftermarket uca's which, again, you will need to run with a 3" suspension lift. The cost of the spindles is actually less than the strut coil combinations with upper control arms. I personal have spindles on my 2wd and I can't say enough about the ride. Here is a link to a popular thread on here about the spindles. We also have quite a bit of pictures on our Facebook page of people running the spindles along with other lifts we offer.

We offer many other options so if you would like to explore those feel free to shoot me a pm and we can go over them.

Like Marie said, the maxtrac spindles are a great way to lift and keep factory alignment specs! I'm running the spindles with 5100s and 885 coils for 7" lift lol
