@Dan8906 @camdenthekid check the full post in my thread. I was kind of hesitant to post but decided to do so hoping folks will keep it pristine. Overall I was impressed with the care folks used camping and traveling through the route. The other guys I saw there were hauling out bags of trash. Quite unlike my last adventure through eldorado... (Trash, broken glass, shit & tp, spent casings everywhere!)

Do you southern nor-Cal guys have "summer bridges"? I had never heard of them before we moved out here. The rivers swell in the winter so the bridges are removed, and in the summer when the levels drop the bridges are reinstalled? This results in a pretty cool "light" off road experience, driving a few miles in the river bed and then crossing the bridge and driving a few miles back to access the road that the bridge is now shortcutting by 15 miles and 30-40 minutes.

We also have some bridges that are low water style and in the winter are flooded, so the county runs a ferry operation for the residents on the far side of the river. Interesting if not expensive as shit.

This is one of the low water bridges just maybe a week before the water was low enough to allow it to be crossed.

This is the same bridge from a similar angle with the water down.

Look into the Trinity Alps. I've never hiked them but my friends that have, have returned with some pretty epic photos of high alpine lakes, waterfalls, etc. It's part of the Shasta-Trinity NF. I'm not sure how accessible some of that stuff is by vehicle though, most of the cool features are "hike in" only. There are still a ton of great FS roads and campsites accessible by vehicle but the interior features are not.

+1 for Trinity Alps, such an awesome area. I'd do Deadfall Lakes area a little west of Weed, CA off I-5. There's tons of dispersed camping off Forest Route 42N17 (from Stewart Springs Rd). The lake itself is hike-in only I believe but seems worth the view, and you can summit Mt Eddy if you're into that kinda thing. If you come more off I5 into Trinity Alps I can't recommend much for vehicle camping as I've only backpacked there..amazing views though. I did Stoney Ridge Trail a few years ago to Echo Lake and it was great. Boulder Creek, Four Lakes Loop, Caribou Lakes are all good hikes. Open to suggestions for vehicle trails out that way if you've got em @MeefZah!

Lost Coast / Usal beach cleanup 22nd thru the 26th of August. Sounds pretty organized but I can't imagine they couldn't use an extra set of hands/tools on the days they are working.

    http://kymkemp.com/2017/08/14/usal-work-week-want-to-help-make-usal-beach-look-a-little-bit-better/

Please join HRIA and Friends of Usal for a work week at Usal Beach and Campground!
Tuesday August 22 through Saturday August 26 - Please RSVP by calling 707-983-6169 or email usalbeachfriends@gmail.com(link sends e-mail)
Provide number in your party, expected dates of work, phone number and email.
We will be coordinating work days to repair/clean facilities and do campground clean up, vegetation restoration (cutting invasive ivy stems from trees), and trail work. We will have a camp cook, with meals and snacks for those who join the work. Bring your own camping equipment if camping. Additional kitchen and camp help will of course be appreciated. We will have some tools to share, but expect our skilled volunteers will bring what they need. There may be a preparatory work session -- August 19th-20th, Contact Shannon through usalbeachfriends@gmail.com(link sends e-mail) if you are interested in the prep session.

It'll be a few weeks before I can make the time and for me it's an easy day trip.

Another drive that would be fun is out eagle meadows to Relief reservoir. I was just talking to a forest ranger and he though I could do it in my stock tacoma. Last time I did it there were a couple of rough spots.

We are headed out tonight. First camp would be the one off of 4N01 (July 7-9 trip where I met you). 2nd camp is up for grabs.

So far, we have the following choices:

    Leavitt Lake
    Eagle Peak

Would love some suggestions. PM me if you like :)
