    Jims n' Janes,

New to the forum and looking for a little guidance on my next project for the 4.0h!

Before winter I was hoping to get some new sneakers and rims. what i really want is 285/70R17 or so BFG K02s. Love the way they look- I live out in Worcester MA so most of my driving is the mass pike as I work a town over. Can anyone speak to the road noise they make? Will the spare fit under the truck or do i need to relocate that? If so any ideas on that solution?

I got a buddy with a set of the TRD beadlock rims he used on his last Taco. they're a little beat up so I'd like to get them painted or powdercoated. Can anyone speak to this? I found some guy on here who planned to it- i replied to his posting about it but havent heard back.

Lastly I planned on getting some General HD springs or Wheeler HD springs but not until next year. Hoping with minimal flex i can stuff that rim and tire combo under standard ride height.

    -Thanks

Spare should fit just fine in the stock location. A couple blows with a hammer and its in there.

I would get in touch with some local powder coat establishments and get a couple quotes. Also, ask them about their process to get a better idea of who goes the extra mile for a better product outcome.

Thanks glad to hear! I've seen a few where they move them to the bed and i think that looks ridiculous- the tailgate ones look cool but ether way its extra money or space when it bolts nicely under the bed

The problem with it being bolted under the bed is that it reduces your departure angle

hmm alright, something to consider- as it stands right now the 4.0h spends most of its time on a MA "highway" haha. But I appreciate you telling me that i didnt know why people moved them

The spare tire and hitch are the lowest points behind your axle and also easiest to remove. The serious crawlers remove or relocate these items for better clearance. It's not a good feeling when your scraping your spare tire on a rock knowing you may need that later to get out.

Be careful who you choose to powdercoat. If they get carried away during the cleaning/heating part, it can imbrittle the aluminum.
