It's a reference to the TV show Rick and Morty. It's a dumb show but I love it.

So ECGS doesn't sell assembled 3rd members for 3rd Gens. I emailed them about it and they said at the moment they don't plan to either.

Not sure how much you guys have read about 3rd Gens but the 3.91 gears in the auto are still a bit high because of the 0.58 final drive of 6th gear. Most people seem pretty content with 33's and 35's with the 4.88's and I'm likely to do a 33 or 34 next time I decide to go bigger.

    This is the question:
I've watched the videos, but have any of you actually setup gears before? Gotta learn some time, I'm not afraid to do the work if someone who's seen it done and has the tools can help. Probably looking to do this next year, or when these tires wear out and I go up a size.

Never set them up before but I've done a ton of research on it. It doesn't seem super hard, just have to be super precise. Might be risky on a daily driver...I'm up for trying.

The way I see it is we can save a TON of money and as far as precision, with quality tools by the 2nd job they will have paid for themselves. That, and I'm not adding arb lockers or anything, just ring, pinions, seals, bearings and assembly. I think we can do it in a day, or at least do the rear in a day and the front in another day.

If only we had someone who has a spare Tacoma laying around who could use 37's, a flatbed built, and a Chevy 63 swap so we can do that person's gears....:)

Hope you guys are enjoying your trip, did you see any eclipse action there?

I wonder who that would be...

I will be needing to learn how to replace the entire rear end over the winter at some point.... and then do regear and locker on the front member as well. But don't know if I want to attempt that myself with help or let someone do the front for me. Going to have to find someone that has a lift or at least a quality garage to do the swap at though. Just sucks that I live in Tyler and most people are in DFW or GT.

I called around, apparently 1 of my friends and my father-in-laws brother can do them. Larry (FIL's brother) has been a mechanic for many years, and worked on my YJ some. I don't know if he has all the right tools but he's done rebuilds. I'm thinking that I'm gonna get him to do it with me and just do my own. That lets me see the process and do it in person, not just what I watched on YouTube.

That would be nice to have someone that knows what they are doing and you can watch and assist.

I know.... then call around! I may have one person, but it is at his business so I am not sure if I would be able to or not, have not asked yet though.

I think I'm wanting to go to 4.56's. Thinking those would be good for a 33-34" tire on a daily driver. Now if someone would just make them for the 3rd gen.

I thought G2 or Yukon did them for 3rd Gens? Not 100% sure on that but I believe someone got 4.56s

Looking sharp, you have a pic of the back of the camper? Does it have a single latch or double to open it up?
