Newbie to Forums

I am new to the forums. Looking to learn about my Tacoma and hopefully prevent any problems. I bought a 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport Manual Trans in Inferno last year March 2016. I have always been a Ford Truck guy but did not like the new ones at all. I wanted a 4 door for family and extra room while out hunting and off roading. Only thing I did not like when I bought this was the highway tread tires. Will change those soon.

I have always liked Toyota trucks but when I drove this one it was love at first sight. I would not trade it for anything. Absolutely love it. Has all the power I need and is very comfortable to drive.

Recently at the last oil change they told me the transfer case was leaking. I took it to the closest dealer (90 miles away) and they cleaned it up and cannot locate a leak. It is documented for warranty issues later if it does it again. I added a little fluid after they told me it had leaked but it only took about a cup and half maybe. Anyone else had leakage issues?

The dealer steam cleaned it and made it look new. So I will check it weekly and see if it is leaking anywhere.

Welcome to TW and hope you are enjoying the truck. If you do a quick thread search, there have been quite a few guys with transfer case leaks but i cannot remember off the top of my head what the cause was.

 

Sounds like you have a dealer that's working with you. That's always a good start.

Also, grease your u-joint zerks if they have grease fittings, check the torque on your u-bolts and you might want to enter your VIN to see if you have any recalls on you truck.
