Will Coilovers Rust?

Not sure if this has been discussed before or not. Couldnt seem to find anything in "search". Up here in Canada they salt the roads pretty heavily in the winter. Just wondering if coilovers will rust under those conditions? I know Icon offers a rust protection to their coilovers for an extra 100$. Camburg doesnt offer this for theirs,which is what ive ordered. So is it okay to spray them with an undercoating or a "rustcheck" to prevent them for rusting away on me, or is this a no no?

Never heard any of the stuff you've mentioned, but you could always spray them down with WD-40.

 

I would think that they would be fine. They are meant to go offroad. Just cheak them and Wd-40 them if need be. Also are they even made out of steel? They kinda look like aluminum.

 

just out of curiosity, why does everyone always say to use wd-40? why not silicon spary? silicon spray does not have the oil in it that will cause so much dirt and dust to collect. sorry if its stupid i just cant think of any reasons why silicon spray wont or should not be used.

yeah, they have a rep for rusting. can't say i've seen too many kings or icons that are that way. hate to break it to ya but camburgs are rebadged SAW's.

 

for the best answer to your question, i'd call up camburg directly or the company you bought them from. but i dont see why spraying them with anti rust stuff would be a problem

 

Any part of a coilover that is not aluminum, stainless steel, or coated like the coil itself, is bound to rust over time, you can't stop mother nature.

so silicone spray is what we need?

i want to protect , my new icons and camburg uca's. do i just spray them both down with this stuff? the installers tossed all my documentation ....

 

im probly going to spray the coilovers and ucas with stuff called rustcheck,not sure if its sold in the states. but on the uniballs im going to use teflon based lube.
