Everything I need to know about lifting my Tacoma

Hello,

I have a 2017 Tacoma SR5 with an access cab. I want to lift my truck and get some big all terrain tires on it. Not looking to lift the truck too much but just enough for the tires. Where should I start and how do I begin this process? Thanks!

 

There's a suspension subforum here with some informative posts stickied at the top. That's probably the first place to start. There's an analogous Wheels & Tires subforum that likely also has many discussions about lifting.

First thing you should know is that you will likely require more than just a lift to fit large tires depending on the size.

285 and up you will probably have to do some trimming and probably the cab mount chop as well

 

Dont listen to what anyone else tells you.

You need the Fab-Tech 6" lift with 315/75/17 Tires and 17X9.5 wheels.

Like everyone else says there is weeks of material here you can research.

 

Also, try to stay away from spacers and blocks if you can help it. If the lift kit is $300 or less, avoid it unless all your doing is street driving.

 

As mentioned, "big" tires need more than lift to clear.
Also, how much offset and poke the tire/wheels have play a big role in clearance.

First decide a reason for the lift, then a budget. Anything beyond 2 inches for a decent ride increases the costs exponentially so it's important to decide what the priority is.
