Flat Bed from Factory Bed

I searched a little. Anyone tried it..? Sawzall, router, bucket of bolts... cannibalize the sides to make reinforcing pieces. Stupid..? Thoughts..? Not for hauling cinder blocks, just camping gear and yard stuff.

 

The strength of the factory bed comes from the whole system being bolted together. It would be less than strong if you chopped it up.

You could build your own for fairly inexpensive.

 

Yeah I spent a lot of time looking at them at the expo. It's a great product along with the canopy but they are extremely expensive.

 

You could sell your bed and be that much more ahead on materials or whatever you go with for the flatbed. I certainly wouldn't try hacking it into something usable.
