Has anyone trimmed their mudflaps too short and regretted it, deleting altogether?

Not as much as the Ocala area (may father and brother both live in Ocala). In the part of Saint Johns county (where we are) and the other more western counties there are many horse owners. Some trails of the Matanzas State Forest approach our "back 40" at the South West corner so we see them a lot.

I used a cardboard template to trace the original bottom curve, then marked the flap where I cared to cut. Used a 28 pt bi-metal blade in a sabre saw (as did RyanL above it appears) to do the deed, been successful using this same blade and saw to cut down acrylic motorcycle and boat windscreens too...

Looks good, as delivered they are insanely long. I don;t know what it is with Japanese and mud flaps, I took over 7" off the back of my Silver Wing 600 and there's still plenty left:

I haven't done the back ones yet....

You mentioned the barn, figured I'd ask. I'm trying to get my stepmother to give one up and let me trailer him West.

No jigsaw in the house but I can probably borrow one. Black and Decker option probably pretty inexpensive at WallyWorld, too. Thanks.

This might be the first thread I've ever seen on TW where someone used the word "too" correctly.

    That's all I got.

    Too few to list.
I trimmed the front flaps 4 inches and I believe they matched the height of the rears when sitting on oem suspension. I eventually took them off. I'm pretty sure I gained some mpgs on the highway in doing so. Have you seen how the stock looks at highway speed? Wind drags them back. FYI, with 4" off, they didn't fold back.

I trimmed mine about 5-6 inches ran it like that about 6 months and then decided to take them off anyways. You can see after trimming about the amount I did it doesn't block very much

Yep, I traced line, clamped it in my vice, then the jigsaw made quick work of it. A little cleanup on the sanding belt (or a utility knife would do) and they look clean as stock.

^ that's the thing right there, good example of the downside to trimming / removing them.

How low they are is fine for flat roads, but when you're off road it gets to be a pain. I decided to remove my flaps after they dusted off every single rock on Hell's Revenge in Moab.
