I recently purchased a second set of wheels for my Tacoma (the FJ Cruiser 17" 6-spoke alloys) and I'm looking to put 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer H/T tires on them. I have the Discoverer A/T3's on my stock wheels now.

I'm curious if anyone is familiar with the Discoverer H/T and if you're running it today or have in the past? Good tire? Fair priced? I noticed Walmart has them for $124 right now. If you'd do another set of H/T tires in the future, would you go with anything different?

    Thank you in advance everyone!

Don't use the Cooper h/t those are junk totally worthless in any weather... it's th cheapest tire Cooper produces, spend your money on something else like the dynapros or the Bridgestones, Cooper does make the HTP PLUS ? That's suppose to be better, but I don't have any experience with those like the junk H/T ... question is why get a H/T tire ? The AT/3 works great all year and has a great tread warranty?

Good point. Thanks for the info! I'd say 60% or more of the miles I drive are highway miles at 65+ mph so I figured I might benefit from the H/T tire, especially from April-November. Good to know about the Cooper H/T, I appreciate the info!

I also have 2 wheel sets for my DCSB due to my long commute, 90 miles a day at 75-80mph. Both sets are stock Toyota 16" alloys. One set has Mickey Thompson Baja STZs 265/75s and the other has the stock Dunlops 245/75s. I tried a few different tires and decided to go with the Dunlops because they are light and provide the excellent mpg. The issue I had with the 2nd wheel set was the tire sensors. Toyota sensors are expensive, so I bought some programmable sensors from ebay. When I swap wheel sets the low pressure indicator illuminates and I need to go back to Discount Tire so they can reprogram (which they do for free).

Thanks for the advice, Scott! I have done a lot of reading up on those TPMS sensors when swapping wheel sets. I've noticed a lot of people say Discount Tire does it for free, so that's good to know. Do they do it for free only if you buy tires/wheels from them? Thanks!

Great tires. The only ones I can run all the way out without cutting the carcass on my 1.5mile long AR flint rock road. Turned a hydroplaning mini-truck into a safe driver.

Hey Tyler, what'd you end up going with? Any regrets/recommendations? I'm facing a similar decision.

    Thanks!
