90% of what I have in my life I don't need. I have most of what I have because I want it and can afford it. I suppose I could look at someone who pays $45K for a TRD off road to drive to work and back and question why he needs it, just as someone driving a Prerunner could look at my $30,000 4x4 SR5 and question why I need it, but to me it is like a millionaire living in an 5000 square foot house questioning why the other millionaire needs a 10,000 square foot house. Both of us bought more than what we needed because we wanted it and could afford it.

Now, the question of whether or not a person is buying a lot more truck than what they need and CANNOT afford it is another matter. The problem is that even this is a matter of debate. Does that mean only buying what you can pay for in cash (for me personally it does), being able to pay it off in 2-3 years (as many financial advisers recommend), X years, or what?

It crossed my mind to leave them some positive feedback, but screw them. They were totally going to fuck me, I had to spend a lot of time and effort proving and documenting the problem and even escalating and threatening bad online feedback and lawsuits for them to "not make as much money". Keep in mind these guys basically stole this truck via trade in and probably paid about $6-7000 via trade in and will still likely make money on it via auction even with full disclosure. So I don't give them "props" at all.

Sounds like the dealer knew that taco had problems as I can't see why they were so quick to refund your money. I doubt you'd have a leg to stand on in court since the truck was written as As-Is and you did sign for it knowing as such. the verbal " they'll take care of you" by the salesman about the service department doesn't hold any weight.

This only leads me to believe they have it documented what was wrong with the truck, but turned around and sold it as is anyways hoping their temporary fix would last long enough to get them off the hook.

I personally would never buy a truck that old with that many miles that was traded in, who knows what things could be wrong with it even if it was babied

That's what I thought too. Consulting with my attorney friend, that's not how things actually work. According to him, transactions often "require" signed documents which are not enforceable in court.

    Too few to list.
I say you made out pretty good in the end. Hard to find a DC TRD 4x4 with those miles for under $25K in CA. Congratulations.
