    I don't think it was a not nice thing, he just isn't the nurturing or teaching type. Watch gonna do.
    Everything I do right now is with my eye down the road. Taco will eventually be paid off, but its a toyota so should last for the rest of my life. The house will never get paid, but will get sold and we will move into something less expensive that will be paid off. Probably get one of those iPods to use for traveling a little bit.

    Back when you were a young buck just getting started as a Toyota mechanic, and I was a young buck just getting started as a mechanic, I spent a lot of time doing a lot of stuff, working 8 hours and getting paid for 2.
    So, I stopped being a mechanic.
    Its so nice to see things haven't changed for the better.:frusty:

    94° and we go for a hike. Turned out to be a tough one. I powered back because there was no 50lb pack on my back. Now I am sitting in the car with the a/c on full pounding water so I don't get heat stroke.

    I'm an idiot

    You would think on the emergency gas cans :} Funny story about how stupid a state can be in an emergency . Here in Feb 2003 we had about 20 inches of snow fall . Well as an essential employee we are required to report to work. I had worked through most of the storm 26 hrs and was allowed to go home @ 2300hrs if I could make it back in the morning I was driving a full size 4x4 Chevy pickup so yep I can and away I went. I locked in 4x4 and hit the road for home 42 miles away with a bit over 3/8ths of a tank I had planned on getting fuel right after work but since I was held over couldn't. I figure no problem hit the gas station on the way through town 3 miles up the road .... Yeah well the idiot governor with a 6th grade education and GED .. (Nope Not a Joke that is all she had now I know a bunch of folks with ged's but they have common sense she however, did not) anyhow she ordered all stores to shut down see where this is going... Yep every one of the 3 gas stations in town had shut down their pumps too as the governor "did not want people on the roads" as they were not plowing over night. I did not know this as we are not notified no agency was so if you did not catch it on the news broad cast you never knew, would think that would be important to tell all the folks that work 24/7.... Anyhow next station 12 miles up shut down and so on for 30 miles at which point my little orange light comes on .. Oh F me, me and the dog will be hoofing it 12 miles home oh great. Thankfully the next station failed at turning off their pumps and I was able to fill up with exactly 1/2 gallon or so left in the tank. Ok all set I think.. head out for the last 12 miles get about 9 miles and there is a huge fire at an indy bike shop they have the road both ways , fire cop comes up with attitude at first. You are not supposed to be on the road !! Till he sees my uniform and yeah the dog is going nuts with him yelling lol. I told him bud I have not slept in over 24 hours and my house is 3 miles north of where we are can I get around on the side streets , nope they are not plowed and drifted up.. Great , but he says the toll road has been plowed some... ( LIAR !!) I turn around go back 2 miles and head up on the toll road yeah it was plowed alright probably 12 plus hours ago easy 10 inches on the road way. Now I have to go beyond my road to get off the toll road and come back down to it. I was going forward till she started to loose momentum stop back off go forward and cut over to get around the pile of snow I was pushing up with my front end. I did this for 6 miles get to the off ramp it has not been TOUCHED with a plow but lol the drifting was all on the road not the median to the left of the ramp road only a few inches there sooooooooooooooooo lol Yep screw it right down the grass median to the Main highway and back town to my house . All in all it took me 4 and a half hours to get home. Thanks governor really thinking ahead there lol . Yes I did make it back to work at ohh 1100 hrs lol slept for 5 hours and drove back down after refilling my tank from just under a half 15 gallons of fuel to drive 12 miles lol. As I understand it every agency head was PISSED at the governor as they had people who could not get fuel to come in or get their own emergency equipment working , State and local leos, fire and rescue have tanks at their HQ but no one else did.

    As a side not you heavy equipment guys will get a kick out of this she actually tried to order private contractor's and farmers with loaders to go out and help clear their local areas and no she was not paying for fuel etc ..Imagine how well that worked out lol .. Yeah she stuck to that for about 8 hours then it was report to the local troops with equipment get fuel voucher and give list of crew working and for which company lol they got paid :}

    I wussed out and paid for it to be done the procedure on the 2011 as I read it from the Haynes book was time consuming and a PITA checking it at certain temp and so on. @Tacoma Mike no idea if that is required but it is what the book said so I bought all the stuff and took it to my mechanic and he laughed but hey it only cost me 65 bucks to get it done and even he was yeah that is a pain in the ass lol

    :laughing: I did it when visiting my son :anonymous: was too chicken to try it by myself..... But other than him helping do the pan and re-fill it, I did the rest by myself. Would NOT have attempted it without the knowledge of the TW folks and this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-drain-refill-automatic-transmission.63851/ and this one https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/diy-full-flush-for-automatic-transmission.68462/ Wish I had a reliable mechanic around. Used to have one, but he moved up your way and is now a train conductor

    Afternoon everyone

    My truck left me stranded a little while ago ,the 31 month old battery in my truck died . Had to wait for Auto club to come out a jump it . Luckily it was a Auto club battery installed so replaced for free

    Guess all this hot weather isn't good for a battery
