Is the only 0-20w available in a synthetic blend? I can only find 0-20w by Pennzoil and Mobil which is synthetic. Is synthetic ok to run in a 2.7L with over 100k miles?

0W-20 is only available as a Synthetic oil. No conventional 0W-20 exists

I see you have a 2012 2TR-Fe 2.7 liter engine. These trucks came from the factory with full synthetic 0 - W20 oil and it is the recommended oil as per the owners manual and on the oil cap.

So the answer to your question would be a Yes. Do it.

Most dealer oil changes are 5w20 on the 4 banger unless otherwise specified by the owner. It is engineered to run 0w20 though.

6 quarts of 0w20 and a V6 filter in that motor and you're good for 10,000 mile OCIs

If so then they are doing it wrong as the manual clearly states 0W20 motor oil. The below is from the owners manual for the 2012 Tacoma.

Note really wrong but not the Toyota way. Many of the Toyota engines went to the 0W20 with no mechanical differences from the 5W20 motors. Toyota made the change in their pursute of better fuel economy.

If they use anything other than SAE 0W20 motor oil it is indeed wrong IAW the Owners manual that clearly states:

" If SAE 0W20 is not available, SAE 5W20 may be used. However it must be replaced with SAE 0W20 at the next oil change."

There is no mechanical difference in a 0w20 2TR-FE motor and a 5w20 2TR-FE motor. If you use 5W20 no harm will result. The change was made for better fuel economy/emissions.

Nowhere did I say it would "harm" anything. It is still wrong by the very documentation supplied by Toyota ( The Owners Manual ).

If I take my truck to a Toyota Dealer for an oil change they should fill it with SAE 0W20, Synthetic Motor Oil as per the specifications listed for the 2012 Tacoma 2.7 Liter engine or they are doing it wrong. There is no argument here, I don't know where you are coming from... More than likely I could also fill it with straight SAE 10W30 conventional oil and it would do no harm, but that would be wrong as per the manufacturers specifications.

    I'm done...

No need to get your sh!t in a knot. I was just demonstrating that there wouldn't be any issues running 5W20. It gives people more choices in oil and can be bought cheaper. It maybe wrong because it's not the Toyota way but everything Toyota say isn't right (lifetime WS fluid). Sometimes we need to think for ourselves and apply some common sense.

    Now I'm done.

Why are you looking for a blend anyways? If it's price you can find 0w20 Mobil at Walmart for 24-27$ for a 5 quart jug, buy two and next few oil changes you only have to buy one, I've ran it in everything I've owned never had any issues.
