Sorry guys but that fight was just embarrassing for boxing. It almost went the distance. People were saying McGregor wouldn't last 2 rounds. A guy who has had 50 professional boxing matches, claims to be one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, couldn't put a guy in his first boxing match ever away until 30 minutes in.

If these guys fought MMA in a cage, we all know the fight would be over in under 1 minute. No one wasted money buying this fight that's for sure though.

I agree somewhat. I didn't buy the fight, I'm not a Mayweather fan, but would of placed a lot of money on him. The cardio in boxing is 10x what it is in UFC, we saw that last night when Mcgregor hit the wall. People also have to keep in mind, Mayweather is 40, and Mcgregor is only 29. That's a huge difference in age in boxing or mma. If Mayweather would of been 30-33 and this fight happened, I don't think it would of been nearly as good.

Totally disagree that it was embarrassing for boxing. Floyd is 40 years old and has clearly lost quite a bit. I was one of those who thought the whole thing was a sham but after watching, I feel like both sports benefited from it.

Conor handled himself well and Floyd, while he was no where as fast and accurate as his vintage self, still managed to get the ko and walk away unscathed.

Mcgregor showed that a top tier mixed martial artist can box and Mayweather demonstrated that he still had something left in the tank. This was a perfect way for him to end his HOF career.

I was in a packed movie theater with a good mix of both boxing and MMA fans. In the end, everyone was applauding both guys for a gutsy performance.

Luckily I did not lose one single penny on this whole mess. It was a great birthday present though. :hattip:
