There's a fire up the 57 road/county line road that just started last night. 100+ acres.

Bummer that's a cool area. Hopefully they can get it contained before it burns to many acres.

I'm going to go out to the peninsula but almost nowhere takes reservations (for the ones that do I looked like weeks ago and they were all booked anyways) So wish us luck! Hoping to get in to the Coho campground... if you have any other recommendations out that way i'd really appreciate it. We've never been out there and really want to check out Olympic Nat'l Park/forest.

They have some great places to camp out there, I venture out once a month usually. Be mindful of kitty cats while hiking, and the gate closure dates. The forest service has alot of the sites listed, and most of them are empty farther in.

Your tires should have a dozen or more pounds of air pressure in them, so water should not be able to get in around the air coming out. Unless air isnt coming out and you have larger problems.

The long trip with the wifey was a success and now she's totally into the overlanding/camping thing. Victory. Sleeping in the canopy on the platform worked okay, but if we're going to do this more often, I guess that means it's time for a roof top tent. Oh darn. I'll post some pics later.

Yeah, when I slept on the platform in the back of the 4Runner it was nice but the lack of space drove me nuts.

Wife took a couple trips, then the tent was approved. She loves it now.

Get in on the new the new CVT hardshell introductory price. $2000 is unreal.

I like having a canopy, it comes in handy most of the time. Especially during the rainy season. But I don't like having the weight of a RTT up that high on the truck (nor do I think the canopy would like it very much since it's not a reinforced model). So, I think I'm either going to sell the canopy and get a rolling bed cover and half-height rack, or maybe build a trailer so I have all my camping stuff in one place all the time ready to go. I've got some time to figure it out since camping season is almost over anyway.
