I did look through several threads and it just got me more confused with what I want to go with. I have a 2017 Tacoma DCLB and will be having a A.R.E. topper put on in the next week or so. I do not do a whole lot of off-roading per se, just crappy county and logging roads at the deer lease.

Here is what I am looking at doing, Bilstein 6112's in the front, 5160's in the rear, and Dakar heavy springs in the back.

I will have camping gear in the back and will be towing an ATV up to the deer lease. Does this combination sound like it would work, or should I try something else. Trying to be budget concise as my wife is hating the I keep finding things to spend money on with this truck.

Dakars maybe a bit overkill and may ride pretty stiff...otherwise maybe. How much lift are you shooting for?

That's a pretty solid setup for the coin and should do you fine.

2-3" at most. Would I be better off going with the Dakar medium duty spring then?

That would be my vote. Unless you plan to also add 300 lbs of bumper or rear armor too.

This would be the ideal budget route. Best ride quality would be to get a set of progressive custom deavers w/ air bags over daystar cradles (use them for when you are hauling). Even though firestone doesn't recommend it, probably the route I'm going to go in the future.

Any other recommended leaf packs besides the Dakars that would work. Deaver expiditions? Don't want to do an add a leaf, from what I have read they suck for towing. Or should I just spend the money and do a complete OME kit such as the BP-1?

Personally I'd call Wheelers offroad and talk to them. They have quite a few multi leaf packs that ride well from feedback I've seen. Believe they are all pro and/or deaver

What are your thoughts on the OME nitrochargers with the Dakar leafs? Which spring 885, 886 or 887?

With a Dakar heavy duty pack you may be topping out the 5160 rear only recommended 1-1.5 inch lift

That's just an ass cover. The extended and collapsed lengths exceed the nitrochargers which are built for that particular pack.

Think I have settled on what I want to get for my application, OME Nitrocharger's 90000 (stiffer valving) with 887 springs, the Dakar EL095R and order the additional leaf since the heavier EL096R is on backorder. Again will have a camper shell, towing an ATV trailer 10-12x's a year, with a bunch of camping gear in the back.

Only question now is should I go with the stiffer valving on the front shocks or the softer?

I don't mind a rough riding truck, my 2003 F250 would bounce the heck out of me.

Anyone have a 3rd gen with a similar set up? Pictures? Would like some feed back on how it drives for you.
