Rear axles are the same EXCEPT for the 8.4'' or elocker.

The elocker housing is an ABS housing weather you have it on your truck or not. It takes the ABS bearings.

the 8.4'' housing can have ABS or no abs. Important to know which axle you have as the 8.4'' bearings are different size. That said, if you aren't running ABS you don't need to get the tone rings.

Did everything! Shoes, seals, bearing, spacer thing, gear thing.. I took the axle to the dealership as other shops couldn't work on a toyota axle :notsure:

Oh shit did it? I might buy a new seal then and replace it before it blows and ruins the bearing so I don't have to spend the $218 to get it pressed and pay 150 in parts. But I did just do the diff breather relocate so hopefully any pressure will now escape better than a 17 year old breather plug.

I have not adjusted the rear brakes. Is this done through that little hole on the back of the drum and spin the little thingy?

I did clean the drum of all the grease and crap.

I did bleed the brakes furthest to closest.

I think I am just comparing it to when tapping the brakes on a small car you jerk because it stops so fast, I dont recall being able to tap my brakes and me jerking forward from instant stopping.. or if I had it was a really long ago.

Well there's your problem, you have to have your brakes drag ever so slightly with drums, so you use the adjuster to make that happen.

Awesome! I may just take the axle to Toyota seeing one is super close since my buddy who has that SST is always busy

I mean it wouldn't hurt to just replace the seal just in case.

Just adjust the rear brakes and you should be good, but yeah that little hole just put a screwdriver thru it and do a few clicks and test again until the parking brake holds on a slant and you should be good. That's at least what I did

I figured that'd be the problem as I wouldn't have thought about it until my buddy who was helping said "we need to adjust them at the end" Which makes sense one the whole process of replacing shoes is done

Sweet, I'll do that then. I'll do it this weekend when I can take both tires off and replace the shoes on the passenger side as well.

Added a "Bedslide" and tested it out over the weekend with the family. Works great. And ultimately I think I like this better than the "real thing," given the trade-offs between the two.

Wrote up the details: Bed Slides on the Cheap.

Since you still have your bedliner you can use it as a guide and add wheels.

Yeah, I used the bedliner as a guide for a guide rail (shown in my build thread), which was nice because it keeps the height down (compared to wheels) but gives me the same alignment benefits. The MDO plywood is "slippery" enough to move easily (enough) when pulled/pushed, but not so slippery as to slide around when hitting the trail.

Oh i didn't see that, I kinda skimmed over your 1st post only, nice work. You plan to coat the plywood with something waterproof? Might last longer that way.

No worries, I totally know how the skimming goes - hahaha :) For waterproofing - MDO is already pretty waterproof (they use it for street signs) due to the resins they impregnate the wood and overlay with, so my expectation is that it'll last for years, as is.

    This is what I did. I believe it was a 3" c-clamp

If you're going out to get a clamp, I suggest measuring the diameter of the hole in the seal. The clamp I used barely fit in there, so make sure you don't get one that's too big.

Does anyone know where I can have a company rebuild a A340F tranmission that'll handle the extra HP from the supercharger?

Please don't say level 10 transmissions though. A lot of bad reviews about that company since someone has left.

All winched up! Probably the quickest mod I've done. Bought it on Friday and installed tonight
