Ahhh
I thought interested was the word.

 

My only cast iron skillet is a 12" and I have been using it for more than a decade now. For everything. Decided to get a couple more CI pans. The old ones are going for a fortune on ebay at least $50 most higher. Don't care for the new preseasoned rough surface Lodge pans. But they are only $15 delivered to your door so...

Got 9" and 10" Lodge skillets last week and Saturday ground them down on the inside with a 3M rough sanding\rust removal wheel on the drill.



Spent the weekend seasoning them on the grill. Oil, turn upside down and ~600* for an hour let cool 2 hours and repeat 8 times.


Yesterday started the real seasoning. Cook bacon in them every day for a couple of weeks.



Tough job I know. But someone has to do it. And eat the bacon.

 

So you took the rough surface off and HAD TO SEASON THEM WITH BACON..

THAT MUST HAVE SUCKED SO BAD..

 

Every once in a great while there is a method to my madness!

Where are you headed? Thinking it is getting close to time for the Glen. I was 2.5 hours away from there a couple of weeks ago wish it would have been closer.

Another warm day here in the High Desert , right now its 87 degrees at 0755hrs , clear skies and high temp expected to be 112 deg today

You are by far in a different league with your knowledge of engines. I just throw in my little yuk yuk jokes to try and be funny...at the point when I have to explain them, it becomes painfully obvious that I should just stop.
