My thoughts for a new sound system

I have been wanting to replace the sound system in my 09 access cab for a while now. I was on the ********* web site and I was wondering what the spacers are for that are mounted to the door and then the speaker on top are for? Is it just because the mounting depth of the speaker is to deep and it serves as a shim? What is the deepest mounting depth for the front and rear doors. THE 6.5" are for the rear and the 6x9's are for the front doors right? In the 09 access cab are the rear speakers in the doors or the roof? I was wondering what you all think of this setup (all alpine)

-Component system SPR-17S
-Front speakers SPR-69C
-AMP KTP-445 power pack

What do you guys think, both positive and negative please.

I have always liked alpine. Thinking about getting my tacoma set up soon too

Kyle I think that is a good set up but the rear doors for the 09 are going to be a pain in my ass! I think I might have to do some cutting for the rears. run new wire to the rears and disconnect the overheads from what I have heard.

 

The CDA-105 is a good unit. Here is a review I did for it:

Ill be honest, I ended up replacing it with a double din unit as Im a HUGE ipod user, and with my big library etc. the 105 just wasnt easy enough.

The other thing I would add was that most audiophiles I know told me that while the power pack amp is well reviewed and a decent little package, it was better to go with a full blown amp, especially if you are going to put in some new speakers.

YMMV. Either way you are going to enjoy going aftermarket. VERY big improvement.

 

The "spacers" that you see on taco tunes are actually universal mounting plates. You will have a very difficult time mounting your new speakers without some sort of adapters. I personally have the taco tunes kit and it worked great. Also i believe Mr. Marv is lurking around the forums and from what I can tell he makes some really nice baffles to mount you spearkers in the doors as well. Good luck with the install and dont forget to post some pics.

 

Like the Alpine idea. i did it in my mustang with type R componets and a type R 12" sub with amp on the highs and amp on the sub. Sounded good for the price i paid for everything online. i just shopped deals till i had everything.

The brackets are for shims and for mounting purposes. Look at *********.com at thei youtube videos for information on what the brackets do.
