Yes. There's been like 1 dyno run video posted of an intake and all it did was increase a little HP way up top of the power band while losing bottom end torque. Something you don't want in our trucks unless you're flooring it to redline all the time.

Here's a vid I saw awhile back.. It appears the intake does provide some HP gains, but only at high revs... A track car would benefit from this, but not the daily driver. With that said, to each their own. People have the right to spend their money on whatever they want

1sttruckguy78 How does it sound under full throttle now vs stock airbox? I miss my CAI sound in my last V6. I know it sounds crazy but I would buy the intake just to get that sweet sound back again...lol

I sold it a few months back. It was so loud it shook the entire cab of the truck under WOT. I didn't like it after a while. If you are into that you will like it.

I just got the TRD Intake installed. It sure feels faster, and is definitely louder. I got the TRD Exhaust a week earlier and noticed the Intake makes more of a difference in sound and butt dyno.

Ah I see. Someone mentioned that it was possible a few pages back but I figured it wouldn't be that simple lol.

General consensus is that it gains a little bit of high end torque but loses low end torque which is no good then..

Srry i was in a hurry and just realized this is 3rd gen.

Maybe your intakes are different, where does this cone filter mount exactly? Does it delete the old housing(box) entirely?

Was curious if anyone could talk about the aFe scoop. Looks like it would pull in water from a heavy rain or having water splashed up on the grill.

I suppose it could pull in some water but it's tucked up at the top of the grille so it's not a direct shot. Worst case would be that the filter would get a little wet but it's designed to be washed so no worries there.

Thanks Captqc. Just picked up my first Taco this year and have been slowly modifying it. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the aFe CAI. I was just still on the fence regarding the scoop and type of aFe filter. I appreciate the help.

Ever have water droplets get on a maf sensor?

Truck stumbles and falls on its face for a second or so.... VERY dangerous on a highway onramp.

Water droplets can get past filters, and its not fun
