Some times I end up with the wrong weight oil ... F*&k it ...in it goes.. :annoyed:
I have used 10w30 instead of 5w30 and this time I came home with synthetic...5W30
With my frequent oil changes ( every 5,000 miles ) it hasn't hurt it yet!
Yup still going strong with 315,000 + miles... :burnrubber:
Who else will admit to doing this?... Hmm

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Unless you have vvt I don't think it matters. Just stay away from thicker oil in freezing temps

    Too few to list.
The first number is the weight of the oil when cold. Operating temp, it's a 30W oil. I don't see the harm in using 10w-30 as long as you're not seeing below zero temps.

I think you need to buy your oil before smoking the recently legalized substances.... :rasta:

Not once ever happened to me. I spend longer than a normal person should in that aisle. I had 6 quarts of 5-30 left over from my last vehicle and am running it through my lawn mower. It's taking a long time.

I've always gotten the right oil but sometimes my drain plug doesn't make it back in the hole in time and I lose a few quarts lol I've put all kinds of oil laying around my garage in it I think I've got a couple quarts of diesel motor oil in it now

LOL, me too! I'm always 99% sure what I'm going to come out of there with, yet for some reason I always stand there forever looking at the different types. :goingcrazy:

    Uhhhh, no.

I pay attention when it comes to the most expensive truck I've ever bought.

Now I might intentionally buy different oils but I don't just walk in the store and pick up the closest jug to me.

    1) read better :D

    2) plan ahead, always have your next change on the shelf.

    3) use good stuff and stretch out those OCIs. You're wasting $ and resources

    4) and you are correct. Clean oil of the proper API (or better) and close in viscosity is more important than some precise plan of the same thing every time that the overly retentive are hung up on.

    5) and before the overly retentive start screaming at me, bring your personal lab tests with you. Not what you 'think' your choices are doing for you, how pretty your oil looks or what your oil of choice marketing team has told you.
