niiiiiiiiiiice!! How much difference to you feel/notice with the scoop? I've been
on the fence about that piece as I haven't heard much feedback on it.

Realistically I'm not sure the scoop added to the performance as I didn't run mine with the plug in for long (it fell out the first day, took a week to get the replacement and then another week later the scoop as installed). It sure sounds good and I know from my days as a mechanic that the more cold air to the engine the better the combustion, but with all this computer control now days I know that the computer makes adjustments which could negate some of the benefit of this setup. For me it was worth the money (I got it off Craigslist for half retail) and I have noticed a difference in the throttle response despite what some here will say. My question to them would be "What brand did you try on your truck and why did you remove it?" Only issue I see in the future is that Oregon is one of the states that adopted the wacky CARB requirements of the Peoples Rebuplik of Komieformia which means that this isn't street legal, but I kept the factory gear to switch back when its time to have it tested. Sorry to my Komiefornia Taco Brothers but I hate your nanny sate regulations. Remember the movie Battlefield LA? I was rooting for the aliens!!!

I kept my stock intake solely for that reason as well

Will he guarantee measurable (not sound, not 'feel'. Both are subjective) improvement over stock?

IE if you buy, have a pre and post install dyno pulls done, and no gains are measured, will he pay for the dyno work and the returning of the part?

If not, it's all magazine magic.

I looked at intake air temp in real time on OBD both stock and through a K&N CAI before and after I put mine on. I saw no difference in air temp between the two while in motion. Stopped, yes, the K&N was a little warmer. But in FL there is no such thing as "cold air" any way.

There is a significant difference between ambient air and under hood air though.

On a vehicle I had with a more traditional underhood OE intake that I converted to a cowl induction CAI, it was easy to measure a solid 50* delta on a 90* ambient day. This was vehicle in motion.

At idle, it was better, but not as much delta, due to heat soak of the intake tubing and less air flow.

So in your case, you're drawing air from the same outside source apparently, since you see the same temp readings. Meaning you got no thermal benefit from your install, right?

Nope. In motion, the intake temp (i guess it's taken at the MAF sensor) were more or less the same, slightly above ambient. The K&N CAI may not be sucking as much lower temp air from the outside, but it also isn't getting heated as much by the engine like the resonator is. It's a wash, IMO.

My gas mileage is a little better with the K&N though, and other than the cool sound, that's all I can prove I get out of it.

One day, Ill remove my passenger side headlight and windshield washer reservoir and turn it into a ram air induction system.

like I said, I am hardly ever up in the 5429 RPM range, maybe kicking it in to get going while merging onto a highway, after that usually around 1800-2500 regularly...whatever floats your boat...

so if you gain 18 HP at 5400 rpm, and keep it there, then you never slow down, I bet you keep the police busy...lol
