    I'm yet another victim of the rust. I took my 2005 TRD Sprt into the dealer for the leaf spring recall and replacement, and to have an 80k mi service, etc (yes I have low miles for a 2005).

    The head mechanic said "uh oh.. rust everywhere let me take pics of this and send to Toyota". I said what do you mean, I thought you made the decision on frame replacement. No, he said there is a 'new' process. We take pics and send to Toyota and then 'they' approve whether you get a new frame or not.

    So if they come back next week (dealer should know Toyota's reply by tuesday) and tell me that it was declined, well I'm prepared to do 3 things;

    1. Contact the attorney's over the class-action.
    2. File an official complaint with my attorney general in the state of FL.
    3. Contact all 3 major news agencies to see which one cares.

    There still a good chance Toyota will replace your frame, but you're a little late to the dance. Since the frame replacement remediation has been going on a while, you probably don't have much of a case. Hopefully Toyota comes thru for you. The news media won't care...

    While waiting for Toyota's reply contacted one of the attorneys over the class-action (nice guy, very helpful). He mentioned that the dealership was not following the agreed-on process - Toyota has no say in approving. The frame test in-and-of itself determines the replacement.

    The dealer agreed that the frame needed to be replaced, so it worked out well. I'll be going to Church this week.
