that is exactly how I felt after the CRC @ 244449km, she failed good 1 year later. the undercoating was holding it together like cheese on nachos @ 291864.
47415km 20% if its current kms driven on an unsafe frame

For an update, dealership sees and acknowledged the hole in my frame and the swelling and delamination happening in other spots, I'm waiting on them to get pictures of the frame and truck and get corporate approval to begin the replacement process.

In my experience it took a day once pictures were sent to approval person to get approved. Followed by 2 weeks of no rental, (told that up front) then a rental for about 5 months. You're on the road to recovery at least!

well.... that took a turn for the worst. turns out unless you have full coverage insurance and are oveer 21 you cant get a rental car, period, and my dealer was "out of loaner vehicles"... yeah, sure, what the fuck ever. so i have my truck until they decide they want to order the parts in. they also told me that toyota "only pays for the frame kit, any nuts or bolts or parts that break outside of that arent covered, and ill have to pay for them" which sounds like full on bullshit. for those of you with replaced frames, whats up with that? and if they can bill you, roughly what did they decide they needed to replace? as ill just buy stuff and drop it off rather than pay thier prices

From my experience, my truck was 12 years old and all 12 of those years were on the north east coast of Canada. I never got charged for a single nut or bolt during my frame swap. I can assure you that some bolts broke during my frame install. I had to replace the rear bumper reinforcement bar as it was completely rotted out and I wanted a trailer hitch installed. They used all new bolts on that and didn't charge me.

The way I see it toyota made the shitty frame, if other parts break due to replacing the frame, that is 100% on them. If they try and nickel and dime you over some nuts/bolts or the like on a $15,000 warranty job they are a shitty dealer.

    Damn I hate you didn't qualify for a rental/loaner.
That Dealer of yours hasn't looked over the Settlement Agreement obviously...
It states that "Toyota will replace the frames AND associated parts, as required, on the Subject Vehicle that satisfy the Rust Perforation Standard as stated in the Inspection Protocol that are presented to a Toyota Dealer during the Frame Inspection and Replacement Program."

I'd make another call to the Toyota Customer Experience Center and see what they have to say about that.
There are 'Legal' guidelines that must be followed as stated in the Settlement Agreement. If a Dealer is not following those guidelines it could come down on them in a bad way.
My dealer and I had issues about my truck at first because they were completely unaware/uneducated about the matter. I involved Toyota and within 2 days everything was square. Just remember to be nice to them...They can make things REAL easy for you.

i did qualify for a rental and loaner, but the dealer had already "loaned" all of its loaners, and the Enterprise rent a car refuses to rent to me because im under 21 and dont have a full coverage insurance policy (although i fixed that last part, so im gonna call them up next week and see about that rental thing again) and, to be fair, i didn't read the actual final judgement, i just grabbed that PDF Rusty Taco linked and gave that to them. when i go back to grab my rental i will take the final order with me and ask about it again. and i learned the hard way that kindness gets me a lot further than getting mad does. dosent mean i wasnt a little pissed that i spent my entire day at the service department, and still ended up driving home in my truck :bananadead:

I told them I will see them in court, it is not your fault the vehicle was sold without proper corrosion resistant protection.

Subscribed. I don't have any holes I can see but I don't think it will be too long before they start. Will try to hold off on the frame inspection until next spring.

It states 12 years from the 1st date the vehicle was put into service. Does this mean I can get the inspection/frame replacement until 2022 on a 2010 if it was purchased by the original owner in 2010?

Yea, somewhere around there. Give or take a few months.
My cross members rotted before any holes showed up. What's yours like?

They're spotty. My truck only has 28K on it and has always been under cover with the previous owner. I have it in my garage. There is more rust on this 2010 Tacoma then on my 2000 blazer with 145K on it and my 2004 chevy colorado, but it's not to the point where it has any perforations that I can see....Yet. I can honestly say I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought it and never dealt with this problem before, but the price was right. As long as I know it will be covered if it gets worse I'm ok with having the that security. Looking at the condition of some of the frames here does put a scare into me though.

This thread makes me sad. I bought my original southern california truck in San diego when i was stationed there....now i moved back to the salt belt and I'm sure after this winter it will start deteriorating away. :( maybe ill get lucky

Mines going in on Saturday but I did a quick check today and don’t think it’ll fail. I have a LOT of rust, thick stuff not just scale, but no holes. Several areas where it’s bubbling up and poking the bubble creates a dimple but not an actual hole.

    Hated...I've seen some clean 1
Take it to a 'do it yourself' carwash and give the frame a good high pressure soaking. It'll knock off all the loose stuff and give you a better idea of what's really going on. I had holes on top of the frame rails near the exhaust and also inside the rails and near the front cab body mounts.
    Oh, and... :worthless:
