    Interesting.

Would be fun to know if the ones 'talking it up' were new to Toyota and didn't realize this was a 13yo thing, or if they were zeroed in on that because of the current TV ads that promote Fords aluminum bed for weight benefits, then Chevy's ad for steel beds being strong and not tearing like aluminum when used by manly men, then the RAM ads for the 'longest lasting trucks'.

Funny what they latch onto to 'promote'.

Yeah, I didn't realize they had been using the composite bed for that long. Perhaps it's a competitive response as you mentioned. I guess each has merits.

Sorry to burst your bubble but not all of us have been drinking the Toyota Kool-Aid for decades. So things you may take for granted because they have been a Toyota or a Tacoma thing for years are a great feature to those of us new to the brand. I hate bedliners. Stupidest idea ever. Protect the bed yet it doesn't. Remove a drop in bedliner and the paint is destroyed anyway. So finding out the Tacoma had a composite bed grabbed my attention. The bed rail system also grabbed my attention. Stainless exhaust was another one.

Far too often features that people would love aren't advertised and people go a different route because of it. People have to look closely at your vehicle for them to see all of these innovations. If they weren't already looking at what you have to offer they sure as hell won't see those little things that sway them your way. So bla bla bla about composite being promoted or whatever. Fact is as soon as most of my friends looked at my truck they said wow what a great idea on feature after feature. They weren't looking for a Tacoma so they never knew. Now they do and many of them said I may have to take a closer look at the Tacoma and Tundra next time I am in the market for a new truck.

Maybe if manufacturers did a better job in SELLING the features of their vehicles more people would give them a chance. Not all of us are like my wife and go shopping based on pretty and what colour she saw drive past.
