    Hello gents,
I recently purchased an 08 SR5 and immediately want to get into modding. The family is really big into off-roading out here in UT, so I want a decent tire that will last in harsh terrain.

I recently put on a level kit and want to now do tires.

My question is: if I get a 285/75/16 on the stock wheel, will I need spacers?

I’ve read there will be rubbing without them, but I also saw an individual saying he was rubbing with them on still.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s a pic of the day I bought it and now. 7CB55D47-47FA-4D2C-A0A9-72FF9CBBE553.jpg

You will rub with it without spacers running a 285. Your options are 265/75/16, 255/85/16, or :sawzall:

I’m okay with trimming the fenders. I just don’t know how severe it will rub on the upper control arm.

Do you think a 285 will rub on the uca with spacers? Like I said, I can trim the fenders if need be.

To run 285s you will need to cut the frame (search cab mount chop).

If I were you I'd go with 255/85-16 in load range D. I have 285/75-16 K02's and hate the ride with a burning, fiery passion.

What are the options in a load rang D for 255/85s? As far as I know it is only one tire and I thought it was discontinued.

I actually looked yesterday and saw a few, maxxis makes them, cooper discoverer, and I believe there was a toyo tire as well. If I had to do it all over again I would go up to a 17" wheel and 285/70-17 tires. Not a huge fan of skinny tires(255/85-16), and REALLY not a fan of load range E tires.
