Nah it'll be fine. Just should work better this other way.

Ok, so while everything seems to checkout with my techstream Trac does not seem to engage in 4lo for me with the updated mod. Went for a run today and my wheels were definitely spinning. Buddy with atrac made it up just fine, I was having trouble on loose off camber sections. Last time I went out and it didnt work I though it was because of a stored code for open abs circuit. This time there were no codes and it still didn't seem to be functioning. I can still hit the traction control button in 4lo and the Trac off light turns on, hit it again and it turns off while 4lo is engaged. Seems like it should be working, not sure where the issue lies. My abs is definitely working in 2hi. Maybe Ill try adding the resistor the line feeding 12v. If that doesn't work I'll just undo the current mod and snip the yellow wire.

Can anyone confirm that Trac is engaging in 4lo
with the updated mod linked above?

Ok, just went and tested with techstream appears that the Trac solenoid is firing in 4lo with the current mod. Is the Trac indicator light the swerving car, or does that designate vsc is kicking on? Shouldn't have vsc in 4lo, right?

Weird thing is that my buddies, one in a cruiser and one in a new 4-runner both with atrac walked up a hill that I had lots of issues getting up. Have people run this side by side against a trd off-road with atrac?

Have an auto 2012 trd sport ans conducted the original yellow wire mod today.
I tried to depin the second wire down with the black stripe but had no success. I got scared of harming the white connector and decided to just clip the wire because I was more confident I could resolder the wire if I had to. Taped up the loose ends with electrical tape.
When i reattached the battery the rruck started and died instantly but then immediately was able to restart no problem.
Truck engages in 4lo with flashing light as expected no problem.
Now the mod seemed to work but I had to know it works.
I sought out a ditch that wasint deep enough to loose the truck in and had some slope to get the rear wheels at different height to make traction worse on purpose. I backed down and came out way too easily so I tried again. This time I really felt the truck settle down and as I put it in L and started to accelerate the wheels slipped and I went nowhere.
I kinda panicked thinking id taken it too far and then remembered people said it really kicks in the more power you give, sure enough aa i gave it more power it seemed to engage trac and I climbed out without problem!

I want to perform this but have a question.
Due to a dakkar leaf spring install while back, VSC OFF has remained on and needs to be reset. I've kept it on because I like having instant torque instead of the engine cutting power to control wheelspin. If I keep it as is and perform this mod, will the mod still work or does the VSC being out put a pickle in things?

I reset VSC and I cut the wire and all is good.

It's so funny this thread with this mod is still going. I remember trying the day i got my 14. For me, it was a bogus mod (yellow wire method), did not work at all. I tested it with jacks on all 4 tires. I just re pinned it back up and got an arb locker lol. Glad to see yall found anot her way.

All 3rd gen Tacoma’s (non- off road) have TRAC in 4 low. Think of it as A-Trac lite. It’s not advertised at all but it’s one of the changes they made with the new generation. I tried it today on a off camber section and it worked just like A trac and got me out of a huge hole.

I did the original yellow mod on my '15 TRD Sport over a year ago. Seems to work as advertised. The question I have is, does this only affect the rear diff? Is the front diff always an open diff?

As far as I known, no Tacoma was ever offered with any options for the front dif. This mod simulates what a-track does in trd off road models.

No, nothing effects the front diff. I tried the yellow wire mod, and it didn't effect anything in 4 low either. This was all tested with vehicle on jacks. I wired mine back together.

You are missing the point on this mod. Nothing will happen with your front diff unless you have a locker install of some sort. This mod mimics a trac that trd off road models have. It uses differential braking to "slow" down the spinning wheel.
