8 years ago I bought the truck new and didn't buy any "extra" warranty. As I suspected... they can go fuck themselves

Whatever you consider, read all the fine print (terms, conditions, exceptions) before you buy. Make sure it covers all you care about.

Edit: I still love the bike ......easier to work on than K1200...not nearly as much plastic to take off

The problem for me is dealership techs are shit. I'd rather fix it myself even if it costs me. Going to the dealership for repair is the absolute last resort, warranty or not. That being said I'm banking on little to no major issues long term. Big selling point for the Taco. A gamble certainly but not a bad gamble. Besides, the provided warranty is more than enough for me to figure out if its going to be a problem vehicle or not and by all means if it is I will ditch it well before the warranty is up.

In the end it's just different ways of approaching ownership. Neither is right or wrong. I certainly wouldn't take this approach with every vehicle. I would never own a high end luxury car out of warranty but a $35k Toyota Tacoma? Absolutely.

Shit, I'm sorry you are correct. Perhaps they'll offer a 3rd gen Iridium warranty for $15,000. Edit: in a complimentary ceramic warranty holder

just picked up my ride yesterday. I took the 100k warranty for $1000 . $100 deductible . To me it was worth it as I have had a few problems with some of the other toyota cars in the past.

I never buy extended warranties because if a product is so bad that it needs it, I rather buy a better made product.
Additionally, you have 3/36 bumper to bumper factory warranty and you can still buy the extended warranty before that expires. Just be sure to buy it before it does expire to qualify for it.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

We paid $700 for the 6yr / 75k mi $0 deductible vehicle service agreement.
It's a gamble, but one I won't be upset about losing.

This is the quote I received, can everyone put the place where you purchased your warranty? I am currently shopping for one.
Yes, as stated before, if you sell before it expires, Toyota Financial will prorate the difference back. Had a Platinum Warranty on my Lexus, sold it and they sent me a check.

    2017 TRD Sport 4x4 quote:

    7 YEARS 75,000 MILES $1,115.00,
    7 YEAR 100,000 MILES $1,425.00
    7 YEARS 125,000 MILES $1,650.00
    8 YEAR 75,000 MILES $1235.00
    8 YEARS 100,000 MILES $1,545.00
    8 YEAR 125,000 MILES $1,905.00
    9 YEARS 100,000 MILES $1,665.00
    9 YEARS 125,000 MILES $2,065.00
    10 YEARS 100,000 MILES $1,760.00
    10 YEARS 125,000 MILES $2,195.00

Looking for something lower, please post the dealer where you purchased yours.

Are we sure this is a Toyota Platinum warranty and not 3rd party? Historically, Toyota extended warranties maxed out at 8yr/125k.

Yeah I have an R1150R as well that is much more similar to your 1200s (boxer low compression twin), it has 90k miles and runs perfect and only had to do basic maintenance. Its the high revving 4 banger BMWs that are super demanding of $ and time just like the cars (K1300S, S1000RR Etc...) had both of those and the engines seem to be ready for retirement by 50k :/

Although I did just see a guy on the forums with a K1200S on original engine with 150k miles! So its possible

Keep in mind you can also buy an extended warranty at anytime as long as the new car warranty hasn't expired. So if you do have a few problems, enough to make you concerned but not enough that you want to ditch the truck, you can still buy an extended new car warranty for the same price as long as you're still under the 3yr/36k. Its what I'm going to do if I decide to keep the truck at the end of the lease.

100% sure, already went through the process of purchasing the platinum warranty for my previous lexus through this dealer. It's legit.

But some people here have mentioned that they were able to purchase these at lower prices. Would like to know where.

So I work for a service contract company and I can tell you that Florida is state regulated on VSC and there is no negotiation. You can call out of the state, purchase one over the phone and you will find places that can negotiate. If you would like additional information feel free to message me directly and I can give you some places that will treat you fairly.
With that said I 100% believe that the VSC is a good purchase if the right price is paid. My parent company owns SET and we get all of our Toyotas out of the southeast and have them shipped to us in Arizona.
Just my opinion and obviously there are going to be hundreds of different ones. Make a decision you are happy with and stand by it.
