Odd question about front windshield

2016 Tacoma TRD Offroad LB with tech package. On my windshield at the top are a lot of small black dots. I assumed it might have to do with defrosting? Maybe part of the rear view mirror somehow?

I want to put a vinyl sticker on the outside upper windshield but not sure what purpose they serve and if the sticker will interfere/warp if i do.

Ah Ha! Thank you. It would make sense as there is a go pro mount there and the dots may absorb some of the glare so that the camera lens is not overwhelmed. I learned something today. Thank you TW.
