I have the 16 2.7 with the LCE header with no check engine light problems. Great upgrade performance wise. Worth every penny!

    Too few to list.
That's my next mod. Just waiting for black friday as I think that's the only time LCE would have some kind of discount. My mod list for this truck is short as it's staying a daily driver and will be passed down to my daughter next year.

    1) Alarm because I don't keyless entry
    2) Tint
    3) LCE header
    4) Sliders

I might add at some point, cruise control, fogs, and intermittent wipers. Not really needed given where I am and how it's going to be used. I guess that would be the same for 3 & 4 on the list but hey, I'd want those anyway.

I'm surprised they aren't having a sale right now, as they have done Labor Day sales in the past. Grabbed mine for 10% off for their Memorial Day sale this year.

Anybody know why it doesn't make more power than the old style?

    Great question,

Seems to me Toyota is planning on making the Dual VVTi engine for quite a few more years...

I haven't had a chance to drive the 2.7l with the dual vvti. For those that have the new motor did you notice a difference in performance from the old 2.7? I know the numbers are the same on paper but what does the butt dino say.

Dual-VVTi may have been introduced just to remain compliant with tighter emissions regulations. In the 2015 press kit, the engine is listed as ULEV II. In the 2016 press kit, the engine is listed as ULEV III.

I had a 2012 base 2.7L AT , now a 2017 SR5 2.7L AT, I definitely notice an improvement in power. smoothness and overall driveability. The engine feels a little stronger and smoother. With the new 6 speed AT, the power train feels more refined, albeit, it's still slow and you really need to keep the rev's up to get it moving. but in comparison it feels much better

Now you've done it. I have a '12 SR5 2.7 AT and trying to decide when to buy. The '18s will be hitting the dealer soon and they will have Toyota's safety sense. You will get radar cruise, BSM, lane departure assist and pre collision avoidance.

    Too few to list.
I'm sure the price will go up as well with those additions. I like the plain no option on my 2017.

Only a slight increase. Toyota is putting the TSS on every vehicle produced for 2018. Quite a few have it for 2017. Even the cheap Yaris has it.

2017's should be selling for a good price then. Me personally, I don't need all that safety stuff, with the exception of the pre -collision

Have you used the radar cruise? It's pretty sweet. It will match the speed of the vehicle in front of you so you don't have to keep adjust the cruise. When the slower car is no longer in front the you speed back to the preset.

I thought about just buying a new engine, and storing it in a crate in my barn. Less $ than a supercharger kit, which really takes my urge away to boost it.
