High idle

    My friend has a 2000 2.7l. After he drives his truck and comes to a stop some times it will idle up to 2k. Not all the time. Doesn't make a difference with or with out ac on. Some times he said it sputters almost likes it's outta gas or surges a little under acceleration. There is no CEL. I was thinking maybe a TPS. But I don't want him spending money on useless sensors.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Sounds like my 01 dbl cab when it needed a new tps. Different engine but same symptoms
