Thanks for the info. For the rest of the state that's open, do you still use Google? I'm kind of old school and I prefer paper maps when possible. Especially when going places where service will be spotty.

There's loads still open in the Los Padres, just not in southern SB County.

The Brian Connant (sp?) maps are excellent.

    Within 2 hours of SB:
There's a lot between Cuyama and Lockwood Valley Road, and all of the side roads there. Check out Hungry Valley, and the Mount Pinos area. There's quite a bit out that way.
    Within 3 hours of SB-
If you want to go a bit further, there's Mojave and all that it has to offer. The El Paseo mountains have loads of fun trails to explore.

It's always good to call the ranger station and ask about closures before going.

I have a book similar to this that's great. Always make sure to have an accompanying map though- the maps in those books aren't great.

If you do go out to the Mojave, there's a store at the BLM office at Jawbone that has a lot of books and maps for off roading

Anyone have any experience with vintage travel trailers? Looking at a 1973 cardinal, needs a little work but it seems like a solid platform to work with.

Nope, but they were probably built better then than they are now!

Anyone interested to join me and some friends in Pismo Sept 22-24? I'm hoping my buddy can get his turbo trophy truck out there for a shakedown!

It's flowing in Lompoc, so it's ready to go up in Solvang. Mikey did it last weekend.

FYI. if you are looking to get Toyota WS fluid to do your trans... Thousand Oaks toyota will hook you up. Called around to all the other dealers (simi, ventura, oxnard) and none of them were doing much below 10 bucks a quart BEFORE TAX... which gets expensive when you need 13 quarts to do the job proper.

thousand Oaks toyota was OTD was 95.05 for 13 quarts of brand new toyota WS

I took a dunk at Alisal, and it was awesome! I'm pretty sure it's up to full flow.

I just replaced my tranny fluid with Valvoline Maxlife ATF, shifts much smoother now. It's cheaper, satisfies WS standards and has higher heat tolerance.

Yup, but at the deal that TO toyota did, its nearly identical in price for the proper toyota WS fluid.... I aint about to fuck around with different fluid types on my truck.
