When I put my exhaust on my mileage went from 17 to 19.5-20. That was hand calculated. It may be more related to being able to hear the truck more on acceleration and unknowingly not getting on it as much but it did happen

With these modern engines, the only time exhaust, headers, intakes, etc make a difference is during WOT. Besides that its all down to skinny pedal application.

But as far as the OP, I have 255 85 16r km2s up here in the PNW, great in fresh powder, and actually surprisingly good in the rain. I would advise against a 6in lift, but to each their own.

On a Tacoma, the 6" lift issue/dilemma is best answered be these questions:

1-do you value looks over off-road functionality? If yes, 6" lift!

2-do you value looks over long-term and short term reliability? If yes, 6" lift!

3-do you value looks over resale value? If yes, 6" lift!

4-do you value looks over gas mileage? If yes, 6" lift!

5-do you value looks over on-road and off-road ride quality and handling? If yes, 6" lift!

6-do you value looks over vehicle safety for drivers and passengers? If yes, 6" lift!

I would takes some time considering these questions, and if you're still gonna put a 6-incher on the truck........please post pics. It'll drive like a joke, but look totally badass!

With a drop bracket lift, you can't "downgrade" easily, just fyi.

I mean like if the 6in is too much trouble then I will go for something lower. I want to have enough clearance so nothing gets fucked. I'm rethinking to a 3 in now.

Clearance for tires or are you talking clearance for the pumpkin and underbody?

Keep in mind that you will likely still have to cut and trim to fit anything above a 285 tire

Not sure if this is where this would go? Sorry all, new guy here... but I purchased a TRD Pro back at the end of March. First mods were tonneau cover and predator tube steps as it's being used for my business. Never like the Goodyear wranglers but since I leased it for business I was waiting until I purchase/finance to upgrade since Toyota takes care of the rest. Driving in town yesterday the driver rear tire blew and I damn near had a heart attack, pulled over and called and used the Toyota care to come out and put the spare on (may as well use it, if you've got it). The blow was about the size of my pinky finger, I've never seen anything like it. Aren't these tires "kevlar reinforced"? Needless to say, took the truck to Toyota, no tires in stock, Won't be until next Tuesday? Thank goodness for the matching size spare? Anyone else ever have any issues like this?

Pumpkin and underbody. I spoke to a Toyota parts guy and he said the highest I can get away with is 285.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
You could do a toytec lift and a 1 inch body lift.

I was going for a 2" lift, after all said and done I'm at 3". So far so good. Just get all the right pieces and do it at once and you will save some time and headache. If you get the right suspension, ride quality is actually improved with lift. My Taco doesn't dive anymore under hard braking or roll back under hard acceleration. I have to say, I'm super happy with my Kings. Reminds me of when I installed Ohlins on my FZ09 Motorcycle.

Only way to gain clearance for the pumpkin is with larger tires. 285's you'll probably need to do some trimming and probably the cab mount chop. Not a big deal though, lots of people on here have done it (some dealers do it too for their "showroom" trucks with 33's).

Some people run 35's but that's a whole other gig :p
