Thinking about switching my winch line from steel to synthetic. Is the special warn spydura rope worth the extra $200? Or will I be fine just buying something off of Amazon? $300+ for a rope seems a little ridiculous when I can get it on Amazon for like $130

Though you really weren't supposed to switch lines especially if you've use it since steel can bur up the farlide and drum

I can't speak for the previous owner of my truck, but I know that my winch has gotten very little use since I've owned it so I'm hoping the drum won't need much work if any

personally, it's something like climbing rope to me. Pay for quality, especially if it's something that my life may one day count on.
For recovery equipment, i'd say extra $ for assured quality is worth it. that spydura stuff is legit

I let myself go for the day around 10:30. Been washing both trucks, watering the grass and doing general light yard maintenance and beer reviews.:burp:

A small handful of select mods.
Check out www.customsplice.com. They have great line that will not break the budget. Also they have fairleads at a good price too.

Fairlead yes. Drum, I dont see a problem.
The winch line never moves in relationship to the drum it just wraps around it and you're supposed to leave a layer or two on the drum at all times anyway.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.
