Changed my rear differential, front differential, and transfer case oil to Mobil 1

$29 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90. Front and rear diff oil was very black with very minor/thin shavings on the magnets.

Transfer case oil was honey-colored (expected).

Also changed my air filter and cabin filter.

Summary: change your differential oils earlier than the recommended 30,000 miles.

Check out the DIYs on here by @chris4x4 and @boogie3478 to save yourself hundreds of dollars (close to $1,000 for all 3 services).

The dark oils smell like death.

Finally finished the front bumper/winch install yesterday. Pelfreybilt aluminum with Warn VR10S winch. With aluminum bumper, winch with synthetic line, all 3 pieces of the skid plates are aluminum, a Pelfreybilt standard (steel) rear bumper and AllPro sliders, the rear didn't drop at all, and I lost 3/16" height in the front. The truck rides BETTER than it did prior with the slight bit of extra weight on the front. Rear is actually LIGHTER than it was since the heavy oem receiver hitch is now stored in the garage.

Still a bit more work pending; Gotta wire the Baja Designs fogs now that the bumper is finished. I have OME 887 coils on the work bench to replace the 885's currently on the truck, and there's still a bit to do before I can call the t-case skid done. "Quick Fist" tool mounts should be here Tuesday. I'll be mounting a d-handle round point shovel, a mattock, and an axe in the bed. (HiLift already mounted) Waiting on a mobile install window tint guy to show up at work and tint front door windows to match back doors. EBC "yellow" brake upgrade will be on by end of September.

By spring, she get's an ARB air locker in the front. Toyota "SEMA" wheels stored in garage until it's time for another set of Cooper STT PRO's. (Going to 285/75r17 instead of 285/75r16's....34" instead of 33")

Looking for a grill surround so I can build my own mesh grill. (Wanting to save the 2011 "one year only" grill)

Finally installed my new 5100 shocks I've had sitting for six months. Took about 2.5hrs and set front to .85. Like the ride and stance. Next is alignment. F / 35 1/4" , R / 36" measured from ground to bottom of fender with C/L hub. All stock springs.

 

Which product you use for sound deadening

 

Cut fenders back 2".

Step 1. Tape fender
2. Measure, mark and draw your cut line
3. Set air output psi where the wheel on your die grinder remains in motion under slight pressure. You want to minimize heat during the cutting process so go as low as you can. For me 55psi was the sweet spot
4. Cut
5. Trim painters tape back 1/4" and primer all bare metal. Let dry
6. Instal Trail Toys fender trim
7. Rinse and repeat on the other side
8. Drink beer

Yeah, just gotta shave down the cab mounts a little more and weld them up and I'll be done

 

Finally bit the bullet and cleaned my throttle body and MAF with 110,194 miles on the clock!

MAF after, I cleaned the wire up inside the shaft as well, but that is impossible to get a good pic of.


Put a fresh air filter in once I was done too.

Every body is probably out recreating enjoying the last 3 day weekend before the weather starts to turn (for those of us in 4 season areas).

2005 Tacoma PreRunner TRD Off-Road 4.0V6, AT, ~90,000miles. Rebuilt the front brakes. Everything was shot on the previous setup.



Parts used: Raybestos Coated Calipers; Raybestos HD Long Life Rotors; Akebono Premium Pads;



The job was easy, but it is not complete as the driver side brake line that feeds the caliper cracked and was leaking. I have ordered replacements for left and right as the other one is close to shot as well. An extra 6 bucks spent to avoid catastrophic brake failure is well worth the money.



Only the dealer has the proper fitting brake line which is a 10mm bolt on each side. Aftermarkets at NAPA, Advance, and Auto Zone all had different sized bolts on each end of the line. The truck is out of service until Tuesday when the parts arrive at the dealership.

Can't wait to feel the bite of fresh brakes.

 

I went with Damplifier Pro 13sq ft from Second Skin and ended up with 2 12x18" sheets left over. Went on really nice and easy to work with.
