Outside Door Handle Rod Replacement?

    7th Injector kit, Trans Cooler, Donohoe c/o's, Billy's in the rear, FJ Cruiser Trail Team SE wheels.
    I just got a replacement door latch and it came without the rod for the outside handle?

    I want to take the rod off my old latch and put it on the new and can't figure it out without bending the whole thing up.

    Anyone do this?

    If you are not going to reuse the part that the rod attaches to (shown at the bottom of your photo), I would either saw, file off, or drill out that pivot.

    I ended up cutting the old pivot with a grinder to get the rod off...

    Then ground off a bit with the dremel on the new pivot to get it to slip over
