Oh, yes! The spare is locked on; the swivel is locked on and the whole unit attached to the hitch is locked on. Plus, this wheel/tire weighs about 60lbs or more. Feels heavier with a tweeked back.

Crime for spares isn't an issue here.

Putting a clutch MC and peddle box in is a pain, no easy way to go about it. It's in though...

Anytime I see someone with a busted axle seal I wonder if it wouldn't just be cheaper to get a new axle housing and swap the important stuff over. One reason a full floater is nice though.

Or a couple hundred bucks, a welder, and a press.

This sounds much more wise, makes the process repeatable and a future non issue.

I refuse to pay people to do work I'm capable of.

And based on multiple reports, I wouldn't trust a dealership with the rear wheel bearings anyways. Mine and Monte's have been holding up great.

Work's great when your buddy shows up with a broken truck and you already have the press fixture. :p

I've been out of the game for too long, just spent 10mins trying to put my tcase shifter in backwards, thought it faced the driver for some reason.

Put the money you'd pay me or a shop into tools.

Not too complicated to fab the press fixture, and my 12t horrible freight press popped the bearings right out.

That little press is actually a pretty good value, anything it can't do usually indicates that it's time to reevaluate tool choice. The 20T doesn't have as clear of a stop and evaluate point haha, tends to just mangle things.

it pleases me to see that mud is a popular color for the new trucks. Improves my odds to get one used in that color when the day comes. My first Toyota/car was pretty much that color, I called it dried mud.

Another thing to try with stuck line fixtures like that: Take a pair of vise grips and put a gentle grip on the OD of the female side of the fixture. Not enough to distort it, just enough to put a tiny bit of flex on it. That can break the rust and gunk in the threads free and make it easier to remove.

Doubt the bearing is bad unless it's noisey. Seal is cheap. Brakes are not too expensive. Shouldn't cost much if he does it himself

The ones I've done at work have blown due to a seized breather. While doing the repair it's best to do the diff breather extension with a new breather. Did mine at 260k. No wheel bearings. Didn't leak a drop until my axle rotted out. 30k later

You're right! Knowledge is free. Live and learn.

I'm a living example that the guess and check method works. :D
