OV is going to be able to hire some additional help once this thing truly blows up - it'll be a full time job for awhile just responding to emails and exchanging tune files it would seem.

So many folks sitting on the fence concerned about reliability concerns and thus don't want to be guinea pigs, but they will begin to fall in droves as more and more get the tunes and provide their reviews. Then you have all the 87 octane holdouts - and there are a lot of those too best I can tell. And then there are those (smart) people who will buy the tune, love it, and never say a word on TW so its not public... My guess is this is only the beginning and he will see >10x response in the next 6 months as this continues to mature and people are less freaked out by the concept. I know I was, but after seeing how much smoother this truck runs now there is NO WAY the stock tune wasn't HURTING my truck vs. this smooth tune...

probably true, and it has been fairly entertaining watching the evolution of this tune here on Tacoma pickups. it's bringing all the noobs out, since they would never do anything about tuning unless they had no choice, and 'yota hasn't left them with one.

this place looks like a BRZ or Miata forum full of teenage tuning noobs, except the noobs are all over 60 here... pretty funny at times.

Correct. If Toyota had nailed the stock tune initially, I'm sure there would still be a market for folks wanting niche features and to suck every last drop of HP from it, but it would definitely be a niche product vs. nearly a must-have. And I suspect OV may have gotten in ahead of a big wave of this trend - folks becoming interested in a custom tuning solution to remove the handcuffs the EPA has put on automakers to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy at the cost of drivability.

At least that sounds good in theory, but with the Tacos specifically some of the crap they have the stock tune doing doesn't seem to achieve anything but driver frustration... but looking beyond tacoma I can see his business exploding and while he has a solid customer base already, I can only imagine the Taco fever is going to fund a lot of growth if he keeps it up!

I agree with everything you said except for

Chances are, you buy stuff online because it has great reviews. Typically, people will go on Amazon, sort by "highest rating", and begin there. You'll never know what products work great if everyone was "smart" and didn't review it.

This is pretty much our only spot to review the product.

I don't disagree, have been really open about my experiences - but there is a school of thought that I'm sure is present on this thread where folks are lurkers and don't want to post publicly for fear of warranty issues down the road ;)

So...don't be these people. Tell your tune story!!

People fearful for warranty purposes? Dealerships don't even have enough idiots to change oil, and you think they do online reconnaissance to prevent a claim? LOL

Seems a little far fetched :D

Looks like the same AT that was on the Dyno for 1.01 tests...

I have been lurking and drooling on this thread. I am anxiously awaiting the next version and the subsequent feedback. I am somewhat on the fence though I know my truck needs a solid tune. I do love the current state mpg but that is where the excitement ends. My brain tells me to be patient, ride out my factory warranty, and see what, or if, Toyota will do to come to my rescue while under warranty. My butt, on the other hand (not literally), misses the feeling it had when I was a 2 time Chevy LT1 Z28 owner. Nothing compares to stomping the pedal and feeling the torque crawl up the legs and hit you right in the azz. I am intelligent enough to know these 2 vehicles cannot be compared, however, I am growing ever so tired of driving a truck with the lightning quick response of a 1985 Dodge K car. Actually I think the K car was more responsive than my Tacoma.

If that's the same truck hopefully the owner is okay with a little bit more aggressive tune for more power for the rest of us.

Without back-reading 5000 posts does the current tune still utilize the Atkinson cycle or is the valve timing more conventional.
