    Its funny how those things go isn't it. What started as, they just seem to work better with other 520s, became the TW 'goto' for CB radios.

    It is true though, they do seem to work better than other brands and models. But then, that is true for Toyotas and 1st gens too. :stirthepot:

    probably better sensitivity and microphone. is the best radio though that i've heard. Even compared to the big bad cobras the truckers use or galaxies.

    I'm not sure why but I have always suspected that the way they are tuned they work better with other, identically tuned radios.

    We think of 40 CB channels as sharply defined frequencies but I suspect that there is some variation among brands as to how the radio actually utilizes the frequency. It would obviously be the portion to the right of the decimal point. For example, is ch. 19 always exactly 27.185 Mhz on all brands? Or perhaps on Uniden's, or 520s in particular, ch. 19 is actually 27.1849 or 27.1851.

    This type of variation could be caused by the design of the radio's components and could contribute to the 'clarity' issue you referred to.

    Based on what I recall from the gpx track he made, I think mid-day Saturday we will be heading into the Big Horns on highway 14 (alt). Will be coming from the north on highway 37 which joins 14a just east of Lovell.

    You could split from there. Take 14a west thru Powell (wave at Meagan, Sue and Steve as you go by) and on to Cody and then into the park. IIRC, there is some dispersed camping along the north fork of the shoshone river before you get to the park entrance. For sure there are some big 'pull-outs' along there.

    ThisVV BUT see below..

    @m3bassman if you take 14 into yellowstone camping is VERY limited. ALL private until the forest line. Then there is basically just camp grounds until quite a ways back. Then you'll have roads that go to cabins and such like where we stayed last time. No other options really besides just camp grounds.

    I do agree with Mike, leaving at where we connect on 14a is probably your best bet. Sucks you won't be able to come wheel in the actual Big horns. My favorite mountains and have wanted to show you guys forever. We will be doing a hike in there as well.

    Again though, who knows on the actual timing of events.

    I just found out today that we are doing multiple location recordings on the 17th. So already..i am going to be late. Not super late i hope but probably 6-6:30 at the earliest.

    As for the rest of the trip, hit and miss. If we are headed up the big horns before 2-3pm, we will shoot for Copeman's Tomb for camping. About 28 miles of dirt over the big horns though. Could be ambitious. Camping is also something I am very worried about in the Big Horns as it'll be prime archery season and the weekend..so it'll be busier than normal. We MAY end up camping just across the bridge that 14a crosses and down by the river/lake. If we are running late. Plus might be warmer down below. Not sure.

    I know we have lots of options though so be easy to wing it.

    I really need to update my GPS data with the tracks i preran earlier.

    Yeah i know. Just not a lot of dispersed camping up the north fork. You'd have to pay more anyways in yellowstone for camping then at one of the camp grounds in the northfork.
